Winston show 8/13

Anyone go today? How’s it looking? Looking to pick up a new 1911, was hoping for a vendor with a good selection of Springfield or Dan Wesson.

I didn’t do much looking. I was trying to sell something so I could buy Targetshootr’s Clements-enhanced original Flattop. The guy I went with spent 11/2 hours trying to find two mags and a pouch for the 30Carbine he bought from me, as I sat outside and waited for him while watching a lady give out ‘free appetizer’ coupons to Texas Roadhouse. What I’m trying to say is hat it was a fantastic gun show that netted me a 1961 357 Ruger Flattop that had been converted to a 5 1/2” 44Spl/44-40 TLA-centric Ruger Flattop that Dave Clements had worked on for Targetshootr. Your expectations sometime have a lot to do with how you you feel about the fantastic-ness of a gun show, in spite of how it actually was. Even though he’s retired, I sent an email to Mr Clements about the gun, hoping to get a letter to stick in the box with the gun in case I ever sold it. I didn't expect him to even read the email, much less reply in the next six months. Within ten minutes, he replied that couldn’t locate any work order detailing what exactly he did, but he remembered the gun and working on it for Steve. Score, again. So, a perfect gun show experience51FBB579-49BB-40D4-A146-01B2C31DE299.jpeg1D2DF681-A55E-427A-AE31-B7C035B80FDE.jpeg

I went and got to see @cubrock . Thanks again .

Always a pleasure, Gunny.

@Charles As for 1911s, there is not a huge selection of Springfields and I didn’t see any Dan Wessons. It is hard to get much of either company’s product 1911 right now. We have a couple Springfield Garrisons. I saw a Springfield Ronin on another vendor’s table. Then, there are the various Turkish and Philippines 1911s on different vendor tables.

@divisionarmsllc @carybrassguy - either of you have any 1911s with you?

I stopped through the show Sunday on my way back from Beech Mountain. Picked up a late 70's era Charter Undercover .38 spl in nice condition. There was a good bit of older S&W wheelies on display too.

I think I saw that gun. Thought he had a decent price on it.
