It is true. On the flip side, I also heard that SSG Kelley, the first female NCO in the course, really did earn her tab. I think we have a bakers dozen through the course now. I still know an old dick that works around 4th RTB who keeps me current, but we are both usually two sheets in the wind when we talk, so who knows...and he absolutely hates women desecrating his holy ground.

Will not be long before we see a female with a long tab here at Bragg...standards have been churning in that community for a while.

@Long_Hunter , my 'ear' is naturally closer to the Navy/MC side of the house. Not one female Marine has put in for ARC/BRC (whatever it's called now); I don't know if any have put in for BUDS. I do know that a few have put in for, tried, and failed MC infantry officers basic course, and I think one has made it through.

I will say my issue is less on whether women can make it through a course without standards being lowered, but rather the implication of the continuous train-up-deploy-refit cycle that is inherent to special operations. I am skeptical that they can physically hang in there for the long haul; many many can't, and it's no slight on anyone. It's just a ball-busting lifestyle that very quickly wears down one's muscoskeletal system.

If a school lowers standards, its up to the current "employed" team mates to except it or get out.

Ranger, Q course, BUDS, etc is just phase 1. Its a qual, not the life style.

Its that simple

When a new E8 took over a company and was squared away, the turds left, new quality blood came in.

When a POS E8 took over, guys came down on orders like crazy.

John

@Chuckman , CONCUR all.

Undoubtedly there are women out there who can hang, but they need to be allowed to find their own way through the jungle and not be a political statement that compromises the process.

I don’t care who the woman is. She can’t stand up to a qualified man in a Combat Arms job! Unit readiness goes to shit quickly when they get to units. They are broke more often than men, they can’t carry the loads that a man can, and they can’t handle “ sustained “ combat operations! Sure there’s been women in combat, a 30 minute firefight isn’t the same as humping the mountains of Afghanistan with an 75 pound ruck! I’m so tired of the PC military I could puke!

Ranger School is tough but its not RASP 1, You wont find any females in there I would say ever but if they did make the qualifications to get there I would give them a day tops. I think folks get Ranger School mixed up too much with the Reg. There are tabbed Rangers, then there are tabbed regular joe NCOS and they are light years from being the same. RASP 1 is hell, RASP 2 is water down hell, Ranger school is a tough leadership course.

75th Regiment has tabbed women assigned to it since 2017 and currently one is about to take over a company in 2/75.

So yeah

You will have to clarify that one for me, to my knowledge (which isn't that great sometimes) no woman has ever passed rasp 1, there are some stories about a few rasp 2 ie for the officers. Then there are assigned soldiers to the 75th as support roles as well but that's not a Ranger. Could possibly be a few old gritty Rip grads but there again I haven't heard of that either. Possibly Batt 2 has a laundry company but there again I don't know for sure.

The first female RASP 2 grad was in Dec 17; three started the course and two made it to the board...one was selected. There have been others since. I am not aware of any completing RASP 1, though several have attempted.

I was talking to a friend this week, in pararescue, he was a little mortified over this because PJ/CCT often doesn't have the highest success rate at Ranger school.

...it’s a kinder, gentler world...:rolleyes:
