If I wasn't old and beat up I'd really like to take a Gracie class. and /or, Krav Maga. Tae Kwon Do and Shotokan were the main two martial arts taught when I was practicing. Usually we would have some judo thrown in. It seemed like Jiu Jitsu didn't become popular until hand-to-hand experts came out of the military and starting teaching it.

A dude in my unit was big into martial arts & got one of the Gracies to come down for a day of combatives training. Being young & fit didn't do me a damned bit of good that day. Lol!

My main take away was don't go to ground if you can help it. 'N don't go grabbing ahold of dudes with no necks, smashed noses & cauliflower ears, 'less yer just itching to have a bad day 😉

One of the first things we were taught back then is do all you can to avoid a fight. But if you have to well.................................................... My only problem was the tequila bad ass syndrome.🤣

I regret not taking advantage of the Krav Maga studio in Burlington. Kept meaning to get to it, the more busted up I got, the further it got pushed back till it was too late.

Everybody eventually hears the term "grappling with an empty gi", but you don't really understand it until you roll with somebody who's seriously good at BJJ.
no matter which way you go, you're getting choked, locked, or flipped.
