About two years ago I cleared some thick shrubs/woods next to my driveway, and left the bigger trees. But it's now growing back.

It looked like this...

...but growing back.

How do I keep it down?

Mowing or spraying is the only methods I’m aware of. I have two spots that have gotten to be a bit much near my house as well. The zero turn gets used as a bush hog sometimes because it gets in tighter spots better than the tractor does.

Spray it, cut it, burn it, spray again.

Just get a bunch of illegal aliens from Guatemala to build a tent city in there. In no time our government will upgrade it to condos and swimming pools and start giving out OUR social security that WE worked our entire lives for. Your property values will sky rocket.

Bringing an old thread back to life - considering a couple goats to get some weeds under control. 1 1/2 acre pond with weeds averaging a couple feet wide along waterline.

No fence - can I put a goat on a 20 foot dog tether that I move around every couple days? Most of it is too steep for my mower which why I have the issue.

Or should I just rent a brush hog a few times a year? Obviously the goats / sheep whatever would poop in the water - how bad is that? We don't swim in it but might some day.

I wouldn’t spray herbicide that close to the water, and goat on a rope sounds a lot like baiting a coyote. If it’s too steep for the mower, the rented bush hog will probably end up in the water too. I’d just weed wack the tall stuff.

No predators as we have several deer stop by a few times a day. Also, lately lots of rabbits.

I'm a lazy basterd at heart so was hoping to avoid a sore back swinging a weed whacker. Already done that a few weekends.

Tractor with sickle mower is my recommendation. Once you get cut down the first time, is the terrain good enough to get a push mower up to the waters edge?

And if you are seeing a lot of rabbits, that means you are going to have predators real soon! And a goat on a rope is much different than a free moving deer.
