Well are old service manager stepped down and because of some performance issues they brought a new service manager in from headquarters. I'm going to be completely honest with you, I have no idea what to expect. I'm the newest guy here and have the least experience. I would be lying if I said it did not stress me out at all. So guys if you could send a couple up that this transition is smooth and goes well I would really appreciate it.

I had a boss come in one day just tore out of his frame.

I asked what was wrong. He told me that one of my peers in another store did something that he was told not to do.

I looked at my boss and told him that if I did what he asked and didn't do what I was told not to do, that I could expect to get along with him easily. He thought for a second and said you're right.

Ever since that day I teach that rule to all my new hires. Do all employees follow them. No. But those are removed from the system. Some sooner, some later.

Now go work for the new guy.

Best of skill with your new manager. The best managers evaluate on skill and performance, not seniority. You probably have observed a last a few occasions when someone with more time on the job was not as proficient as you.
From a customer perspective, I trust a shop when my wife goes in describing a symptom and the service coordinators comes back and says they found nothing wrong. Not many shops are that honest anymore. They will find something to bill even if everything is fine. Women get hosed a lot at auto service centers.

You got it Russell. A lot of that going around lately and don't feel bad at all about reaching out to us on here. My recent situation is quite a bit different, as it didn't involve any worries for my own, or my family's welfare.

But trust me. I have struggled the last several months worrying about the welfare of others. Hang in there and just do your best. That's all you can ask of yourself.

Rskahle,
May I have a few more details?
-What town/area are you located in?
-What type of mechanical work are you doing?
-What hours are/do you want to work?
We may have an opportunity for you if you feel you need a change. I did automotive for years, and had my own shop for 10. I've been where I'm at for 22 years, great crew.
I became the highest paid tech out of 52 because I found out what's my boss judged on, and what else is important to him. Turd runs downhill, help him stay out of the turd. Another way to put it, Don't be the irritating noise.
Blessings bro

I have been at the same job now for 52 years. Every year has been one day at a time. As long as we elect to work for somebody else that's just the way it is. Monday could be my last day, but i have always operated that way. Now for 52 years. You WILL be fine. You WILL!!
