Would anyone be interested in a guitar/musical instrument sub section?

There's nothing wrong with lots of guitars. People collect far less useful things, and guitars can appreciate in value too if you're educated about what you're investing in, kinda like guns. Handbags and shoes, not so much.

You may be very surprised about the used market for shoes and bags my friend. I was in a boutique with my wife one day. We were on vacation and she wanted to pop in. You should have seen the PRICES on these used bags, shoes, belts, and sunglasses from the brands I guess people give a crap about. We’re talking thousands of dollars lol.

Any product with steadfast followers has the ability to recoup losses!

Just get a great big amp, turn it to max distortion (overdrive), turn it up to 11 and just be like a little kid with the strumming. Oh.,..yea, use the bridge pickup so it has that twangy sound. It really doesn't have to be music.....unless you are soloing, you can do this...

I think aluminum is very nice, and brass and copper. Those are my favorites.

Ok I’m in!

Ok the Gretsch is the official FIRST Nashville Classic ever made lefthanded and just prior to the Country Getnleman moniker.

The next is a 2011 Carvin CT6 I had made with quite a spec list.

‘08 Martin 000-28 that I refurbed after a house fire in 2011

‘01 Standard Strat also refurbed from that fire.

That house fire killed my drive for guitar for about 9ish years. This year I have fully gotten back into it. That Gretsch is my newest addition, and yes, all of the guitars are upside down!!

Cheers!

Damn dude! Those are some cool planks! Even if they are backwards!

Beautiful guitar! Is that one of the cherry sunburst?

I fondled one at Gruhn in Nashville a while back. Wanted it badly.
Sorry for the late reply. I think it's called a Desert Burst, if i'm not mistaken. The flash makes it look brighter than it does in person.

I'm in. We have enough musicians around here I think I hatched a plan. Next year, assuming none of our worst case scenarios come true 😎 , let's get together and have an open mic in a field somewhere. Guitars and guns. We'll call it "Bam Bam Jam"!

I've been a bass player and singer for 35 years. (Yeesh) I started playing night clubs in the 80s when I was a teenager. At one point I played in FIVE bands to keep my calendar full. 2000-2010 (with a little break around 07) I played all over the Mid Atlantic with a band. I had as many as 32 bass students back then. (Mostly kids learning bass as their senior project.)

I like to play pretty much anything but angry rock and rap. When people ask me who taught me how to play, I always say "James Jamerson and John Paul Jones" (Motown and Led Zep).

These days I'm in a good dad band that plays mostly around Greenville (NC) and Washington.

Now for the gear. There's more than this, including a pedal board.

If only metal were that easy.

On the bright side, that is the way to play punk rock.

Those are awesome! A friends of mine is endorsed by them. He's told me that a 19mm spaced L2500 is coming in 2021!

I have big hands. So the tight (to me) spacing is the only thing that has kept me from getting a 2500. I have a fretless L2000 and it's a tone monster.

G&L does some great finishes
That blueburst is one of my favorites.

Let's also NOT forget:

Led Zeppelin
IRON BUTTERFLY.....1st time I heard In a gadda da vidda was on Home Improvements sitcom with Tim Allen. Looked them up and saw the song was from 1968!!!!

Lynard Skynard....but I actually like Simple Man better than Sweet Home Alabama...

AC/DC

RAMMSTEIN

Thanks. The Blueburst is Ash, the Tobacco Burst I ordered in Alder with K-wiring. I really like these a lot. I feel kinda bad for the nice old four-strings I own, because the only one that gets played much is my upright.

I played 5's exclusively for a few years. It was a nice vacation, but 4's have always felt like home to me. I was spoiled by my 5 and it was hard to find an off the shelf one that ticked all the boxes. Should have kept it. Live and learn.

I had a gig for a while that required a five, and got spoiled to having the low B. I have played plenty of off-the-rack fives that I did not like, but the L2500 really works for me. I'll only take a four these days if there's likely to be slapping involved. I played in a tuxedo band for a dozen years that did mostly wedding receptions and garden parties, so it was upright on standards for the first two sets, and a 1965 Precision for the last set of dance and disco. I'm playing Realbook Jazz tonight and a L2500 will be great for that.

Nice call on the 56! I have a feeling that she'd move some air. I was strictly biker bars and dives.

I've got a Strat knock-off by one of Washburn's children companies, a Taylor soft cutaway acoustic electric, and a Peavey Grind 5-string neck-through design that is so fun it oughta be illegal.

BBAD0FB8-04B2-4C81-9956-9BCBA2FC7A98.jpegI traded an 80 dollar acoustic for this years ago. Who knew a Squier would turn out to be sought after. I beat the shit out it playing out and even threw it a few times. Rock and Roll!! Dug it out after seeing what they are going for on Reverb. 1996 Squier Supersonic Vista Series. MIJ.

What acoustic guitar has a neck most like that of an electric?

It's hard to say, really. Electric necks can range in thickness from ruler to louisville slugger. Is this a first acoustic for you?

No. I had a Seagull S6 but found the neck a bit wide. I currently have a Squier CV 60’s Custom Telecaster. Love the neck on it and looking for something similar to it on an acoustic.

Gotcha. I had and S6 as well and I found it had to much "shoulder" for me. Blueridge guitars seemed to have a fairly thin neck to me, but were too narrow for my fat vienna sausage fingers. Fender used to make some thin li e acoustics wit a Tele style body and a Tele neck that might suit you.

As I've gotten older I prefer a thicker neck, but I also love a soft V neck, as well.

I don’t know what price range you are in but I played a low end Yamaha that I had fixed up for twenty five years. I didn’t like their necks then, and really don’t like the necks on the old ones now, mainly because I finally picked up a Taylor at Harry’s Guitar shop in Raleigh twenty years ago. After years of looking at others that was the one that said “BUY ME”. There were other features about it that contributed to that decision, but the neck was a major consideration. Back then you couldn’t get in a Taylor for skinny money, but they have broadened their offering over the years and can fit most any budget except the very least expensive imports you see in big box stores.

What small amp would you all recommend? My wife is ready to move from her acoustic guitar to an electric guitar.

This is old news, but I had a Line 6 amp with all sorts of effects that was WAY fun to play for not a lot of money at all. I kept breaking off and repairing the knobs which was a pita, so be careful of that, but it was fun.

Great amp (whether you buy mine or from somewhere else).

I also will echo what @fieldgrade said about a Taylor. I had a '99 714 that was the best playing acoustic I've ever owned. She was beat up, but she had it where it counted! Some of the lower end Taylor's are solid guitars. I haven't played any, but PRS makes acoustics too.

I could definitely afford a Taylor Big Baby. I'll check it out. Thanks.

What is your price range and what tones are you looking for?

It may be worth looking at Guild too. I'm not as familiar with their newer import stuff, but their older American made guitars had some comfy thinner necks.
