If the mods decide this should be in the wanted section. Seems like it should be here though.

I just picked up two old hand sheers. One is in good condition, just needs some TLC.

The other, no handles. What to do... After thinking and looking I figured I'll ask.

Would one of the knife makers here be willing to make me a knife from one side? Keep the other, of course. Full tang would be nice, I'll make the handle.

Here's the stock:

Full tang would be very difficult with that stock. It would be very thin if it was hammered out wide enough for a full tang or very narrow if left thick.

Hidden tang would be easy.

How thick are they? That's going to be your limiting factor. May just not be enough metal to move.

Obviously going to put some $ up for propane, etc.

Looking for 5"-6" drop point or Tanto style, full length hidden tang. I'll put the handle on as I know that can be a PITA.

PM me with you ideas and price.

I think the first thing to decide if the metal in the shears would make a good knife. In order to do that you would have to heat treat a piece to see if it hardens. If it hardens it has enough carbon to make a knife but there is a lot of unknowns working with items like that.
Not trying to talk you out if it but to do a lot of work and end up with something that won’t hold up is worth thinking about.
