WW2 training film on German small unit tactics

Can't watch the video as the girlfriend is sleeping, but can't they be summed up as support the machinegun, carry ammo for the machinegun and provide security for the machinegun?

Machinegun.

Edit:. Damn I want that MG34.

Interesting. Looks like the german riflemen are shooting blanks. No recoil. To be expected I guess. I like the Marine tactics better. Call in an M1 Abrams or an A10 Warthog as seen in the Nat Geo Documentary Homeward Bound.

Or, in the WW2 German case, call in a Panzer or Stukka. Same thing only different, but in a really big, spread out and fast moving offensive that kind of backup may not be available.

Short reader's digest version: MG provides covering fire while riflemen flank the enemy, moves up when enemy fire is suppressed by flanking riflemen, continue until enemy position is neutralized or can be over run.

And, yeah, I would love a chance to shoot a MG34.
