Yet another reason to keep a first aid kit

I had a friend hit his head on a rock and get knocked out. It was a pretty knarley gash that we superglued closed. Get to the ER and they are losing it because we superglued it. Apparently we should have left it bleeding when we were an hour from the nearest hospital. This was in the Roanoke, VA area.

Lol, noggins are a different story, ESPECIALLY with a loss of consciousness....

Really don't do a lot of gluing on the head, staples are best for that, but gluing is okay. Let it bleed? Hmmmm.... Not sure I've heard of that.

Good work bud. I am convinced that the most important thing to do in a "crisis" is to keep your head about you. Panic helps nothing.
I often say, the first thing to do before proceeding, in a medical emergency is to open a great big can of CALM and sprinkle it liberally on the yourself, the victim and the surrounding area. ;)

My wife is currently going through some spontaneous medical issues and she says that because I react in a direct, matter of fact, almost casual manner, keeps her from panicking.
Which would be her normal response.

This was emphasized to us in WFR training and is an important part of working efficiently. Pause, take a deep breath and assess the situation before acting. Instill calm in the victim, no matter how bad it looks. Demonstrate competence and confidence in you actions. Know your $hit. ;)
