OK, I give in. I've got a now braceless 4" AR pistol in 22lr and a PDW style stock I got for a meme build that would just be perfect together.... So it's time to stick my toes in the murky NFA waters.

I'm just making sure I have the process right in my head and would dearly love a link to idiot proof guides for the steps if anyone has them.

Step 1: establish a trust. Or not? There's nobody else here and I can't see myself lending NFA items when I'm not present so do I need to spend money establishing a trust? I'm planning on making it a double stamper because I'll be hunting for a suppressor also if that makes a difference.

Step 2: file the form 1 and pay for the stamp to see if I'm allowed to make something that wouldn't be banned if not for a vestigial remnant of a failed attempt to take away our handguns.

Step 3: wait forever

Step 4: get stamp, then engrave, then build?

Do I have the basic time line correct?

I believe so yes. And I think you have it right w.r.t. a trust in your current situation. But what if all that sexy from the double stamp kit wins you a bride?

To the best of my knowledge you are correct. I’m nearly a month into waiting for two.

I have a trust. A trust doesn’t cost much if you choose to go that direction.

Ad an upside…. F1s are turned around MUCH more quickly than F4s. F1 are usually a month or 2 at the long end.

Decided to go easy mode, got an appt at Atlantic Outdoors Thursday after to go get printed, paperworked, measured and formed.

That way I can start suppressor shopping at the same time....

tomorrow will be 3 weeks in to my 2 recent F1s, and a week since my fingerprint cards were delivered.
