What is it?
I don't reload. Don't have any exotic calibers.
I thiiink for me it's the 41 magnum. Might not be but at $1.00 a round for magnum handgun plinker ammo just rankles the hell out of me.

Reloaders can get in on this too.

Only one rule; gotta be for a gun you own.

.45 LC ~0.70/round

Mine is .30 carbine. Granted it's not a buck a round but it went from $11 a box pre Obama to about $35 a box now. It was even higher during the great threat. It's no more expensive to produce than any other common round but since the demand is relatively low no one has incentive to bring the prices down.

303 British is no joy to pay for either.

.221 Fireball.

If I buy it $1.30 each.
Since I reload it... I don't really know
Might have to do that calculation sometime.

I’d have to do some serious math. All my 5.56, .308, and pistol brass was free, and I have TONS of it. I hunt with a .270, but I bought that brass once fired but also got the projectiles I shoot for free. Basically all I have in it is a few projectiles for some rifles rounds and most of those I traded into, and some powder and primers

45-70 , I reload and the .458 bullets are more expensive than I'm used to. However..... The brass is affordable and should last a very long time.....
7mm SAUM..... brass very expensive

Mine is the 45-70 (and I reload). A friend has a 270 WSM and thought that those were pretty pricey.

I recently sold my 458 Win mag , hurt like hell to shoot it and hurt wallet for about 60 to 70 bucks for 20 rounds.
my Marlin in 444 marlin is next. and hard to find. The one handgun that has eluded me because of ammo cost is a 500 S&W mag.

.300 Savage....you just can't find it.

32 Rimfire. Last time I looked the going rate was around $175 for a box of 50. Could be a little more or a little less, just depends who has it.

8x56r out of my Steyr Mannlicher M95's. That crap is $2.00 to $3.00 a round these days for the surplus. I bought it when it was $0.08 a round. And as always, I wish I had bought more... :(

My Beowulf. I think the first ammo I bought was $212 for 100 rounds...only because I bought the upper and wanted some ammo immediately.

Haven't tried to reload it, but it's a straight wall cartridge so it should be tough.

My 25/06 or my 308 hunting rounds. I do reload but I shoot Nosler bullets in the reloads and they are high as camel Pu$$y. I shoot some factory stuff too and they average $1-$1.50 a round. Forgot to mention the Winchester extended range turkey shells I used to shoot they were $40 for 10 rounds. Sure am glad they came out with Longbeard XR!

Sabot slugs for my 12 gauge... $12 for five. Plus the visits to the physical therapist to get my shoulder working again.

50 BMG. But still less than some of you guys. Reloads for about 2 bucks.

The most expensive ammo I buy is probably 12ga buckshot, at $0.75-1.00 per round. Virtually everything else I handload for, with the exception of 9mm and 5.56. Both of which are relatively cheap.

My most expensive handloads are 308 winchester.

The biggest cost savings is 44 mag. Nearly $1.00 per round a the store, but I can handload it for about $10.00 per 50.

I believe I'm the winner (loser?). For those of you that know this story already, forgive me.

I have some WWB .38 +P FMJ that cost me right at $7 a round.

Thanks to a fellow forum member's post, I ran to WalMart where they had one box left marked down to $7.

Not owning a gun that can safely shoot +P, I'm now forced to spend another $343.

(7+343)/50 = $7

I love a bargain!

:(

I’ve got 150 rounds of WWB .380 auto, bought the same way, for which I don’t have a gun. Wanna trade?

Yeah, if S&W ever makes my BG380 work, I could use those. Now, which one of us is gonna make the 200 mile roundtrip to make it happen? ;)

Used to be 458SOCOM at ~$3/rd, but I guess now it's the 6.5 Grendel. When I can afford AA ammo, it runs ~$1.50/rd.

You're in luck man, both of them have dropped back near what would prob be pre-obama prices adjusted for inflation. SGAmmo has .30 carbine S&B for $18 a box and .303 is $8 a box for wolf and $14 for ppu brass.

Right now some of the best deals for ammo for the last 9-10 years are out there. 5.56, 7.62x39 and 7.62x51 are at really good prices. 7.62x54 is still up there as not much milsurp has been coming in, and commercial loads have always been expensive for it.

Hmm, most expensive shooting right now, prob 338 lapua, right around $6 each boom.

Factory ammo for my .45-70 Guide Gun runs at least $1/rd, which is close to what I paid for quite a bit of quality 6.8SPC. I've got dies, components, etc. on hand to load all my 6.8 brass many times over, which changes that equation drastically.

Funnily enough, the .41 Mag is one of my less expensive rounds to keep on hand. Factoring out the cost of brass (using 1x Starline), I can load 50rds of 215gr LSWC running an honest 1350fps for $8.75. Even factoring in brand new Starline brass & 240gr LSWC going 1100+ fps (7.5" Super Blackhawk Hunter), I'm at $18.75/50rds. You can't touch factory ammo for anything less than $1.75/rd & for ammo that can't touch what I'm rollin' at home. When a range session with my .41s goes 200-300rds, it makes a BIG difference.

Would be .45 Colt if I didn't reload it all.

Would be .22LR if you counted it by volume....

Probably .308/.30-06 because I usually shoot factory. I don't shoot enough to make sense to reload it on the regular.

This.
When I bought the gun there was some factory that was about the same as 45acp, a year later forget about it.
I don't shoot it often, cast & reload now, but eventually I'll need some brass.

Bunch of friends back in AK have 375H&H rifles, I though about it, til I saw the ammo cost, the cheap stuff is $2 a round on sale.

It used to be .44 mag at about .80 cents a round or 30-06 at around $1 a round. I don't shoot the -06 enough to worry about it and don't have time to load much any more so I sold the .44. I liked shooting it but so did everyone else but they weren't paying for it.
