I’m curious about how people came up with their names.

Mine was an attempt to spell what was apparently the Chinese equivalent of my name, Jeff. I worked in China off and on (mostly on) from 2000 until a few years ago. Actually, the way they pronounced the word sounded more like Jeep-poo.

A close friend of mine introduced me to the Brangus cattle breed quite a few yrs ago. I moved my herd over to the Brangus influence and have never looked back. Worked out really well with our cattle set up here in our section of the state.

Chose the screen name as I didn't think it would be something most people would choose.

Bailey Boat is the name of a boat I once owned. I've owned dozens but that one was a favorite and had special meaning to my dog at the time, Bailey. She would board the boat and seem to take over like it was hers or something, it was very funny but you needed to be there to get it...

PS: I use the same name on ALL forums so if you see it, it's me!!

Hybrid Moments is a song by Hot Water Music
Moments Pass is a song by Misfits

As I was registering for some site years ago they played in that order on my itunes and I thought it was neat, so I went with it
Two great bands, two great songs.
One lovable member - me.

My wife is one of those people that gives names to vehicles. I bought a 4-door 4WD truck right around the time Waylon Jennings died and she named it Big Waylon. I’ve used it on various forums for 15+ years now.

Funny thing is most assume my name is Waylon. And some expect me to be 6’5”, 300+ pounds, with a long beard and wearing overalls...or at least that’s what I’ve been told multiple times.

Back in 1988, at the ripe old age of 15, I discovered the martial arts. It gave me an outlet for some negative energy from a less than perfect childhood.
Of course, in the 80s, Bruce Lee was every beginners hero. Over the years, I have read many of his writings and found him to be more than a childhood movie idol. He was an interesting man who posessed wisdom beyond his years.
Draco is a nod to The Dragon and 88 is the year I stood at my first real crossroad in life.

Reminded me, I think it was @Butter that I met at a Charlotte gun show years ago, my first show! And he said (I think it was him, maybe someone else!), "I thought you'd be black...we all thought you were black"
Funny how you picture other members on here (back then it was the c s c site)

I admit I pictured you as a twin to thrillhill

A long time ago when AOL instant messenger was new, I picked up this screenname as an alternate so that I could mess with people. A couple years back, coincidentally when I was working on my phd, it made the transition from distant memory to forums and websites. I still have one or two other names that I use for other stuff, but this is pretty much me now.

I have/had many many screen names; I really enjoy making them up. When I came on here I used one of my favorites - "LiberTarHeel" - but @Millie complained that it was too much to type, so I changed it to my initials ... and I even left out the middle one in deference to @Millie :D

I was watching Tombstone when I joined my first forum years ago. I was sitting there thinking of a screen name when Doc Holliday yells out "Johnny Tyler". Figured I had spent enough time thinking of a name and that was as good as any. Guess I could have picked a better character from the movie but it is what it is. I blame Doc Holliday.

You madcap!

Left over from another forum. Motorcycle to be exact. I was on a "Shadow " specific forum back in the day and naturally "Shadow Rider " was already taken. The origins of my last name are Dutch/German. I tried translating shadow rider into Dutch and didn't like it so I tried German. Comes out as schatten reiter. I combined the two and got Schattenreiter. So I went with that. Didn't know until years later it is also the name of an album for a German heavy metal band (I think it was). It is not as hard to say as it looks. Just say it with a German accent.

I am a Virginian. I love Bourbon. Virginia Gentleman is the only true Bourbon outside of Kentucky. (First Distilled in KY, then re-distilled and aged in VA)

I have deep Virginia roots. Born and Raised, Educated, Land Owner. I know the Back Hollers and Mountains from Bristol to Winchester on I-81. Have no effing use for NOVA or people from there.

OG gangsta rapper and break dancer back in the early 80’s known as DJ Majicmike.
Somethings we are not proud of.
Droooooooopppp!!!

Man, no way to even count the number of times I heard that when friends were demoing their new boomin’ systems. :D

When I worked with kids we had them use Chief and first name. Kept some formality but not as much as Mr or Ms. every adult would answer to just Chief. And one of its uses is for a leader.

I am not Native American, LEO, Navy, or a fireman.

Sorry to disappoint. :D

I’ll admit that even though I’ve never met him, that’s about the same image I also think is in other people’s heads.

Brian is my middle name too. First name is Steven. I was supposed to be Brian Steven K, but mom's aunt, my great aunt, raised holy hell that my initials would have been BS, so they changed it.

BS would have worked well for me at this point in my life.

like who?
And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead. Los Campesinos. Men Women and Children. Jimmy Eat World (not so indie, but good nonetheless). Certainly can't forget Idiot Pilot.

There's more, but I've seen those bands many many times live.
