Your take on Walther

Love my PPQ’s.

(Love my PDP even more!)

Best factory trigger that I’ve ever shot. The PDP is an absolute joy to hold and shoot.

a PPQ and P99 are apples and oranges. as a DA/SA fan, the P99 is appealing as I happen to like the long DA pull. However for the fully decocked striker pistols like P99 / Canik TP9DA, the DA pull is crazy long. Like significantly more than most TDA pistols like a V3 HK or CZ that employ a quarter cock position and therefore don't require the operator to perform 100% of the mainspring cocking on first pull. I have owned several PPQs over the years and do not regret selling them. They felt amazing with dry fire, but on the timer none of this translated to performance.

The P99's grip texture is antiquated, and I'm not normally a grip texture snob. If you're interested in a decocked striker pistol consider the Canik TP9DA. It's basically a modernized P99 AS.

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but you can't go wrong with either of them. Both are reliable, well-built handguns.

The P99 Compact is a bit rare, so it should appreciate in value and be a unique carry piece with some character (if that interests you at all). I also like how it functions like a DA/SA gun. But on the down side, spare magazines for it will be hard to come by.

The PPQ is more modern, ergonomic, and one of the best striker-fired triggers of all time. Solid handgun all around.

I adored my PPQ and I regret selling it constantly.
That's how I feel about the P99AS I had, 'cept I gave it away, cause I didn't see her leaving and more importantly hadn't watched prices.
They were cheap when I bought it, and had doubled in the year I had it.
The PPQ just never had the same appeal for reasons I can't articulate.
