This Saturday is youth deer day in NC. Friday afternoon one of my best friends and myself are picking up our daughters (ages 8 and 9) and headed for the woods. We're gonna camp out, build a fire, make some s'mores, hunt Saturday, and have a great time.
Both of these girls killed their first deer last yr and both got decent 7 pointers. They absolutely love hunting!!! I'll post some pics when the time comes.
I hope some others here are gonna take advantage of youth day and get some kids in the woods. There's nothing like it!!!
 
I’m hoping to take my stepson. He’s 8 and hasn’t killed one yet. Started working on his list for Santa last night and one of the things he mentioned was a fishing pole, made me feel like we’re making some good progress on a fine young man.

Im fired up about it sir! My buddy and me are taking his kids(he has enough to start a basketball team) saturday and hoping they all get to fill a tag! Dont hurt that its muzzleloader opener to boot, that way i can make i follow up shot if need be wink wink They have all killed deer before, but getting to be a part of it means A LOT to me to be able to get/keep a kid in the outdoors! I believe im more excited than they are

I know the feeling...... we've been planning this for months. I just told my buddy yesterday that we're more excited about it than the girls are, and they won't hush about it. Lol
 
Yep... This is hopefully going to be a great weekend for all!!!! Virginia's Youth is this weekend and it is my daughter's last Youth Weekend. I plan on filming every part of it and maybe putting together a video for posterity... Hopefully it will be a good ending!
 
Good luck. Oldest is in college so no hunting for her this year. Youngest isn't interested. So I'm back to being on my own, if I can find any time.
 
My wife called me at work this morning and told me my daughter woke up with a fever of 101°. The doc said she was negative for strep and sent her home with antibiotics. Hopefully she feels better quickly and we don't miss the trip...... I've got onions in her socks, garlic in her ice water, and a lock of her hair tied to a chicken bone and buried in the cemetery next to the headstone of a virgin. That and a shot of shine before bed should get her right.
 
Set an alarm for 3 am for a second shine shot.....just to be sure

I was a little slack about getting pics of our camping trip this weekend but we had a blast. We had two girls (ages 8 & 9) and two teenage boys hunting today. 3 of the 4 killed deer. My daughter killed a decent 2.5 yr old 8pt and the teenagers both killed does. My buddy's little girl had a chance to kill a cowhorn and a couple does but let them walk. We didn't get a pic of one of the does.

Did a lil bit of fishing between hunts too. Managed to get 2/3 kids a deer. Good times and and the best part......they want to KEEP going! The middle one asked me if he could go turkey hunting too. Great day!
