18DAI

I saw this elsewhere, too.

He was a member here, a while back.

RIP.

John was an amazing guy. Former gunslinger as a District Attorney Investigator (18DAI referred to that position in the 18th Judicial District), firearms instructor (Calibers in Greensboro) and Magistrate in Guilford County. He was the go-to expert on Third Generation Smith & Wesson pistols over at the S&W forum. For that reason, I posted the terrible news of his passing there. I miss my friend!

John frequently stopped by the restaurant and always greeted me with a smile and a handshake. Will miss seeing him there. Rest easy bud
One of our last lunches together was at your place.

I remember the username, but never got to know him. It looks like Massad Ayoob commented on his obituary which speaks volumes to his character. RIP.
Mas couldnā€™t find ammo and happened to be in our area. John took him to a local ā€œcop shopā€ (where I believe a couple CFF members work) and got him sorted.

@Jeppo , that's a very nice write up over at the S&W forum. I know that John was a member here and he wasn't received very well by some of our experts and he went away. RIP 18DAI.

Well, that's doubly depressing. :(

I remember the handle but never met the man. RIP.

I never met the man but I knew him from many forums over the years. I learned a ton from him and made sure he knew I appreciated it. I saw the announcement on the S&W Blue forum and on THR. RIP

I hate to hear this. Back several years ago, when I was still in the 3rd Gen game, we talked a a lot. Iā€™ll miss him.

I never had the pleasure of meeting him. I do recall a hilarious "teaching experiences" exchange with him many years ago.

A true gentleman.
