Hey everyone, I just acquired this awesomeness... 1979 Colt python 357 6 in (also got the 4 inch ). Its a little rough around the edges adn wanted to clean it up some. I wondered if anyone had any ideas how to get the "valley" of the cylinder clean again. Its almost like a white, rubbed area (circled). So can I clean this and get the blue back or keep it in original glory??

Have you tried anything yet? Powder residue often collects in the cylinder flutes and a soft cloth with solvent sometimes is all you need.

no sir haven't tried anything yet. I was a little worried about scrubbing the bluing off

This looks like powder residue over blueing. Don't use anything abrasive if you want to preserve the blue. No steel wool, no Flitz, no Scotchbrite, no polishes, rouges, rough fabrics or mechanized anything. Rub it by hand with soft clean white cotton and powder solvent. Scrub lightly with a nylon brush if you must, but use a clean one. The white cotton will show whatever gunk you've been able to remove from the gun. Rinse and repeat. Be patient.
