The Five County VE Team is hosting one of its monthly testing sessions at the United Methodist Church at 129 N. Main St., Wendell, NC
on Saturday 24 February 2024 at 1:00 PM. To take the exam is free of charge.

Registration is online. Go to:
https://fivecountyhre.org/ to register as well as find information and links to help study for the exam.
 
well I might not be going, but you did inspire me to at least set up with an FCC account and pay for a GMRS license.
I'd say you got me to get off my butt... but I did it while sitting down, if you know what i mean.

There are exams also at the RARSfest. People taking the exams get into the event, gratis.

Kind of a useful goal, set the date (April 6th) and come up to the fairgrounds and see America's largest all-indoor hamfest.
With 46 days left to go, it's a perfect amount of time to bone up on the test material and be ready.

I have a Kenwood TS-940SAT from an estate sale that could be your first HF rig, once you get your General.
A true classic, been enjoying using it here after I checked it all out, getting unsolicited nice comments about my signal quality.
