What do you guys think of this one? Seems like a good HD short range shottie at a good price?

The maverick 88 is good to go. It's probably just about the best value you can get in a cheap shotgun.

I would get one with a full stock though. Personally prefer the 20" with the longer magazine tube.

The hand held cruiser model kicks like a mule for those that are recoil sensitive or have uncle Arthur ( arthritis) in their hands, wrists or elbows.

Yep. I had a Mossberg like that once. After 2 rounds of buckshot, my wrist was done. I think maybe with the shockwave type grip it might be a little better, but I won’t own one with a vertical pistol grip like that anymore.

My friend had one when I was around 19 or 20 years old. He thought it was so cool, and I did too. Then I shot it, exactly 3 shells and I wanted nothing more from it.

The mossberg maverick 88 is like said above probably the best bang for your buck in the shotgun market. And there mostly interchangeable with 500 parts which adds to the aftermarket possibility.

He brings up a good point IF you buy it and hate the pistol grip part of it you can always buy a full size shoulder stock

Have you tried shooting one? They look cool, but you can't really aim/point one without jamming the butt into your chest or hip. And, as mentioned recoil is high. That rear raking angle at the top of the grip was a knuckle buster for me. Like it hurt for days after. It is the only gun in my life where I would stop and say, "Here, you shoot it a while."

It's priced well though. Get a stock, they can be found used where people have "upgraded" to pistol grip stocks. Personally, I don't like the pistol grips on shotguns, with or without stocks, especially with tang mounted safeties.
