I just got this email from my sister.

Need to share some disturbing news. Emma was on a week long field trip last week to Biltmore House, Graceland, Grand Old Opry and lots of places in TN.
Sunday morning her roommate woke up to find Emma thrashing around in the bed, she could not get a response from Emma, called in chaperone, they called 911 and called Maggie & Josh. Emma was having a seizure, they carried her to local hospital, ran CT scan, she had another seizure, they ran an MRI and have discovered a calcified tumor next to her occipital lobe.
Josh & Maggie went to TN as soon as they called them Sunday and were there for the tests & a consultation with doctor. They drove back to Basset with a very sleepy groggy Emma Sunday evening. She is on anti-seizure meds and a steroid to prevent swelling. Josh took her to a pediatrician yesterday and he is on his way to Richmond Children’s Hospital with her this morning to see a neurosurgeon.
This is all I know at this time, as more information comes in, I will share with y’all. Please keep Emma & all the family in your prayers.

Thank you.
Ron

Very sorry to hear, Ron. Your niece and the family are in my thoughts, fingers crossed for a quick and uneventful recovery/long term solution.

Just got an update on Emma:

Emma is 16, turns 17 on June 9th.

They met with the neurosurgeon, had blood taken, underwent some tests and they have come up with an action plan. Emma will go back to Richmond next week for a sleep study, I’m guessing because her seizures seem to happen at night. She is scheduled for surgery to remove the tumor, which they believe is not malignant, on May 13th. She will be in hospital for 3 or 4 days, then come home to recover.

Continued prayers for Emma and her entire family. My birthday is May 15th, praying for a birthday wish that all goes well, and she has a complete recovery. God bless you all.
