Hey guys, so I got a new Streamlight protac railmount 1 from PSA and when i took it to the range for the first time It would shut off on me, and not turn back on with the momentary or constant on buttons but after a while would turn on just fine. Do you guys think it could be because I have it right next to the flash hider? It is working just fine now but haven't gone shooting again since this.Screen Shot 2024-03-31 at 5.07.37 PM.png

i had the same system without problems, but i have since put on a longer barrel and the light is aft of the flash hider. less fouling on the light now. i hope you figure it out.
make sure the caps are screwed up tight. also if you take the tail switch off you can see where the parts get screwed together with a small pin spanner. make sure that ring
is tight. even a little loose makes problems

I have seen a lot of reports of people having issues with the protac railmounts over the years. I've had issues with my HLX as well but using the arisaka surefire tailswitch adapter seems to have helped (though I mainly use a cloud REIN now so I haven't really vetted it ) . The TLR-1 is a good pistol light but the railmounts just don't seem to hold up as well as other lights on the market.

I have a RM2 on my 1301 and after only a few months began having issues with the tape switch. I believe it’s related to the routing, which I didn’t think was too sharp but I’m guessing one sharp turn caused an intermittent failure. Otherwise I’m quite happy with the light.

Bummer, I only found good reviews before I bought it. That plus it being $100 with free shipping from PSA was why i bought it

I've had a lot of bad experience with the Streamlight rifle lights including 2 protacs I still have that I outright don't trust enough to even sell.

You may find that using the tail cap instead of the switch improves reliability.

Nothing but good things to say about the TLR series though.

Wow. The comments on this post are the first bad reviews i've seen for this light. Definitely thought it was just mine based on the reviews i've seen before lol.

You may just have a flakey switch or tail cap. Streamlight customer service will probably send you a replacement. I’ve had Streamlights too hot to touch and they held up fine. They can have some flickering issues when firing as well. I haven’t had this issue, but there’s an easy o-ring fix for that as well.

Personally I’d move the light back a smidge to spare it from being subjected to muzzle blast. Then if it still misbehaves let streamlight replace it. As others have stated they do have excellent customer service.
