I have a couple of concerns I am working through before purchasing a rifle. I apologies for my lack of knowledge in advance. I plan to hunt with it and it would be nice to just have nice time at the range with it. I like the Tikkas just like a lot of people in the Interwebs.

Left hand Tikka 6.5cm stainless steel threaded would be the perfect idea. Unfortunately, not available stock.

Issues:
1. Stainless steel vs Blue. For a beginner, what is recommended? I don't mind maintenence. The bigger issue is Tikka only offers lite and superlite base models for left handed in stainless. None of the other version are offer that have other nice to have features.
2. I really like something with threaded barrel. Lite and superlite lefty models do not have these options. I would have to go with CTR or roughtech for example. They all are blued for lefties that have threaded barrels.
3. Anyone can help me here, is there a well known gunsmith, triangle area (Cary-HS), that can help me gain some knowledge in what I can do with the rifle if I would go with non-thread and/or non-coated options? If they can thread a lite or superlite that will solve my issues honestly.

Thansk all! Happy Holidays!

The reason I ask is if you couldn’t find exactly what you wanted in chambering or barrel, you can get a barrel blank for about 350 and have it chambered threaded, etc for in the 600 range.

I'm not sure if this is going to add any value. I'm a lefty but shoot right handed. I'm amphibious (You are likely to young to get the reference)

I have a Tikka t3 CTR in 308. I have never shot a 6.5.
I had to put a brake on the Tikka to tame it enough to not turn my shoulder purple at the Range. I don't typically bruise, ever.... So, Hunting rifle vs. range toy... Just throwing that out there.

Nothing wrong with a blued rifle. They just take a little more care and may take a little more attention to keep them from getting damaged.

If you really want it threaded, I'd find a smith before you purchase to see if it can be done or go the barrel blank route.

Outside of all that, the Tikka is an amazing rifle, buttery smooth, good shooter and everyone that shoots it loves it. Check out Fuquay Gun. I had them special order mine.

Thanks for the info.

Definitely, before my time. Haha.

Yes, I go to fuquay gun quite frequently now. That's a good tip to get in contact with a gunsmith first. Just need to find one that can thread.

Sounds like an interesting route. Going to have to do some research on this route. Not following exactly what this entails. Thanks!

The T3x Compact Tactical is available lefty with threaded barrel.

I had the T3x Tac A1 in a lefty model and it was exceptional. Got out of long range shooting otherwise it was my favorite rifle.

Yea, compact tactical which works. Thanks. I was just told to get stainless steel, and was not sure if blued was a lot of maintenance. Reading online, says just coat and/or keep it oiled. Hopefully, that is reliable. Another reason to reach out to a gunsmith.

Best advice I can give is don’t compromise on what you want for the sake of what is in stock. By the end of this journey you will be into this rifle at the $2k mark so best to wait for what you want.
Also try this place. The store is primarily focused on precision rifle shooting and has a very knowlegable staff.

I have a blued CTR in 223. No more mtc that my other blued rifles. I would not hesitate to buy another, it’s the most accurate factory rifle I’ve ever owned.
A CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor would be an exceptional dual purpose rifle. The extra weight will help with stability and recoil.

Thank you for sharing. I appreciate the knowledge from your experience. I might just grab this as the only thing that had me worried was not being able to grab the stainless steel version in left handed.
