I got in some MOJO 22 LR suppressors in about 9 months ago. I ended up selling the one I had for myself so I ordered a couple more and noticed that the new ones have wipes in them. With the new AFT law, the manufacture can not sell replacement wipes. I have never shot one with a wipe, is there that much of a difference between the same can with and without a wipe?
Also, I know that you can make a wipe but not really sure where to get the material and how to cut it round.

I’ve had to use these in the last two days making a rubber skirt on a machine & hyd seals for a horizontal band saw cylinder.

Honestly I'm not trying to be a AHole. But when I read this I started laughing because it sounds so much like what that ATF bunch would say. Except it would take them a 5000 word ruling and 15 pages to say it.;)

"it may be legal to make a replacement wipe but it is not legal to make a spare or have more than what is required to be in the suppressor because the ATF considers a suppressor part to be a suppressor."

My father raised me to be self sufficient and do almost everything for myself. I like making things and thought about making a form 1 suppressor BUT the ATF has made me doing it myself so clumsy that I could find myself in trouble by accident. I made the decision to just pay the extra money and buy them form 4 already made. I still like making things so decided that I will just stay with making experimental airplanes and flying them around the country. The FAA is much easier to deal with.

You need a leather punch and a bit of old wetsuit. If you’re concerned just punch them only when you need them. If you’re not punch a bunch and put them in a bag labelled “patches for wet suit.”

contact the suppressor manufacturer. they will tell you what they use and what they recommend you buy to replace it with
Rex Silentium has it on the product page for their 9mm can

there are punch sets available out there. it might be a decent idea to punch out the old wipe so it's not always hanging around slightly deflecting shots once it's shot out.

I make Mac 10 silencers and use wipes in them just because thats how theyre made. Its a niche nostalgia market. I wont knock it. They work.

The most recent ATF "logic" on the question of wipes is that you destroy the ones you have then make new ones. Just enough for the suppressor.

Use red neoprene sheet material. Normally 1/4" thick but it depends on your can. I use a handled die punch and simply put an old national geographic down as a base on top pf my press plates and punch them out of the sheet stock. Easy 4 -5 a minute that way.

do you have pics of the wipes?

Sorry, Im out of town right now. Looks like a orange cicle. I mis typed earlier. I use silicone material not neoprene for wipes. The original mac material is string sandwiched rubber. I just bought the whole lot of mac RPB NOS internal silencer material from the guy who picked it up from the last guy who made under the RPB name. A crapolad of wipes. Like a thousand. And shoelace eyelets. Anyone need shoelace eyelets :)

As I recall the original Sionic wipes were made from the same material as hard rubber shoe soles? The same hard rubber sole as was found on dress shoes? Around 1/4” thick, or thereabouts, this is the piece of hard rubber that was tacked onto the leather that made up the heel.

I think that it was combined with very fine steel or brash mesh wipes in-between the rubber ones?

There’s a relatively thin gauge 1/2 thick aluminum separator ring that goes between the wipes

BTW I do refurbs on mac cans . new wipes, eyeletts , bead blast and refinishing for decent prices. I ended up buying the whole lot of MAC suppressor parts from the last torch holder. Enough parts to build 70 or so plus spares.

Lower right corner are Mitch Werbell's punch sets.

For some reason that first picture makes me laugh!

Reminded me that I always wanted to take a bath in shoelace eyelets!
