Who's been around awhile?

I joined the place that shall not be named in 2012 at the recommendation of @Charles. My gf and his gf at the times were working together and hanging out together some. I never bought, sold and traded so much in all my life before then. Met some great folks and made some lasting friendships. Fast forward to me getting thrown out of that place for speaking my mind on that December night, I sat up at work cause they were calling for snow and talked to @BurnedOutGeek and @Chdamn a lot that night as the new site was being wrenched on. They decided to make me a mod, I bet they regret that lol. Bet they regret making me an admin recently even more. I’ve enjoyed watching this place grow into what it has. Lot of behind the scenes work went Into it. And lots of great members help it be the home we all run to during the day when we get a break from life.

I don't rightly remember when I joined CSC. Probably was there a year or two, maybe?

I remember logging on one day and the sh*t had hit the fan.

Read a little bit, but honestly I was pretty much turned off because I had some prior experience helping to moderate a social Q&A site before that had its share of malcontents whose sole purpose in life was to tear down a previously awesome site.

So I didn't migrate here right away.

However, another member (don't remember who) messaged me with an invite. So I started looking into why so many were suddenly up in arms.

So here I am now...member 227 on December 17th 2016, Charter Life Member as soon as I could mail payment.

Haven't regretted it since.

Well...except for some of @Chdamn 's posts. But that's what therapy is for!

Oh man, the nightfighter class was awesome. Still have my t-shirt from that class. My buddy Derek and I were talking about that class just last week. Hope Justin is doing well still.

Joined CSF very shortly after it started back in 2007, if I recall correctly. Made all the migrations. Kept the same screen name the whole time.

Also, to put some time in perspective...

Justin's accident was 8 years ago this weekend already, for those that remember that epic thread.
What? I'm new.....tell me.....

Epic situation that @BurnedOutGeek 's nephew experienced a very serious injury that allowed the members to rally together and help with some things the family was going through.

Let me step aside so @BurnedOutGeek can do this story justice.

So I was staff at C-S-C after being with the group for a few years. Met the staff guys several times. I seemed to "gee-haw" with a few of the like minded staff guys more than the owners. Then the shit hit the proverbial fan, and I was working EMS at Triangle Station when I got a call if I wanted to be in on the "new and improved, not Canadian" Forum.
And I was all like:

So, I get all my news, and keep up with the real pulse of the world through this forum. I had been to a few meet and greets, sponsored a meet and greet, and its a great bunch of folks to be involved with. I dont really get on anyother forums, this one is so diverse.

Yup I’ve been around since CSF, close to 10yr I’m guessing. Thankfully the core members have remained and make this place worth hanging around.

Edit: just checked the Canadian site out of curiosity; I joined CSF April 2009. So yeah 11yrs!

Been around a while and threw several transitions now prob 10 years or more but this is best yet. After witnessing and seeing all the support for @BurnedOutGeek nephew I knew it was a good place filled with good people. Hate to know how many hrs I have spent over the years on it.

I wouldn’t have guessed it was this long ago, but I joined up at C S C in July 2013. Signed up at NCGO sometime around then I’d guess. I know I signed up there first to get a discount on an NFA trust.

@drypowder shot me a PM on AR15.com when the Canadian sellout happened and I joined up here in the first day or two it was up and running.

Joined C S C shortly after I moved back to NC in '12. Think it was my bullet and powder and peddler at the time that told me of this place, so I came here, pretty sure in the first few days.

I joined the CSF in '09, shortly after retiring from the Army & moving up here to LA. Same username & sunny disposition through each change of address. Got a text the day Canada imploded & am #174 here.

A member local to me took me to his range in when I was looking for a place to shoot back in '09 & a year or so later, another member taught my wife's CHP class. Today, I consider both those guys family & through them & various get togethers over the years, several of you miscreants have become friends.

I lurk/browse a couple other forums, but this is the only joint I'm truly invested in.

Joined CSF in 08.

I have SEVERAL pics of the get-togethers we had here at the house in 2009 and 2010, including of the OP of this thread @McDirkale! LOL! (If it weren't for a certain level of privacy that some folks understandably wish for, most notably because of their jobs/businesses, I could make a heck of a fun throwback thread just based on "forum" pics.)

Was asked to moderate about a month before it imploded. Hopefully a coincidence.

Next was the offshoot iteration focused on Charlotte that @htperry started after CSF started having issues that @Oneofsix mentioned above. Can't remember the year for that one. Maybe Howard does. Cool little place to hang out back then.

Then was at the canadian hangout from the beginning until the unpleasantness. Moderated there some on and off. I was banned from there within an hour of the "announcement" for deleting the contents of "my" posts. Couldn't get to them all quick enough so there are still posts there under my username that show my status as "Guest".

I think over the past 12 years with this crew I have probably met close to 1,000 or more members. Out of that many folks I've only had a couple of bad experiences/deals and maybe a total of 4 or 5 folks that I wouldn't invite (or invite again) over to the house to hang out.

I've met members that have become closer to me than family. Guys that I can call at 4 am no matter what is happening. Dozens have spent the night here and have had access to the innermost workings of the homestead. I've received help from members and hosted benefits for others. Had one member buy land bordering mine just because we were so like minded it made sense. Had forum members attend the funeral of my child and we have helped console family members of forum members who we hadn't met until the passing.

To say there is a core group of folks here that is family to me is and understatement.

I wont go into the rest of the drama, we all know how that went, and there's a couple people that I'll likely never speak to again because of it.

And then there's these guys.

Oh wait.

Isn't that @Brangus and @Chdamn? Maybe @rantingredneck on the right in the background of that first pic?

Oops

Oh wait a minute..........

...me?

I can't really remember specific dates, but I know that I started lurking on CSF after a guy at the flea market told me about it. I never joined though, and then all of a sudden one day it seemed to go away and it was C S C all of a sudden. I continued to lurk and then eventually signed up. Unfortunately, I paid for an annual membership in November of 2016 - a month before the sellout. I logged on December 17 and didn't know what happened. Fortunately, a member messaged me to tell me about this place.

When did Crack Smoking Canadians start?
When did CSF start?
When did the Canadians buy?
Was there another name in there somewhere?
Can someone put together a simple timeline?

CSF started in July 07
CSC.... I can't remember 2011 or 2012 maybe?
CFF Dec 2016
