Didn't this just blow up in GA.?We certainly could disband police forces.
At one time the only full-time law enforcement personnel were sheriffs, helped as needed by citizens.
Most things would be handled by citizens, although people even complained about that when an incident recently arose.
You don't see 5% of what really goes on.For those of you who don't know...
The real job of law enforcement is to keep you...from actually knowing how much bad there is right around you. What you see is probably a 1/3 or less of what actually happens in the criminal world every single day. Their efforts are the reason you can go to the concerts, shopping and see the world as a "not so bad" place.
I know, you guys will lash back on this comment but it is the truth.
For those who think just a sheriff can handle it....you are sadly mistaken. You are thinking of an old western movie. Population was WAY less, it's no longer a "one horse town" kinda world. Not to mention sheriff's in NC are elected "politicians" and wouldn't have a clue how to even begin.
Im really starting to believe this is going to usher in a National police force
Well, yeah, unless you work for the company. You realize these things don’t choose up sides, right?
Who will be blamed if crime increase like I think it will ... certainly not the idiots who voted to disband the police I am betting they’ll find some way to blame some branch of law enforcement be it the neutered MPD (if anything remains), the Hennepin Co Sheriff, the State police ... hell even the Feds?

I've often said, that people should go sit and observe a typical day of criminal court. It would open their eyes. You don't see 5% of what really goes on.
They will issue whistles, flashlights and a BLM Security Vest and polo shirt.
It’s Minnesota in a city. Sharia enforcement coming soon...
~0:45 I would not say such things if I were youthey'll just move down to rtp and charlotte and get busy turning nc into the next giant sheethole
Well, currently the cops might make an ‘arrest’ and then the thug will be off the streets for a few hours before pledging to return to ‘court’ via an unsecured ‘bond’. Maybe, just maybe, after they’ve victimized multiple people, they might get a longer term incarceration paid for by the People via compulsory taken dollars, which in reality will be a thug finishing school where they can refine their craft. The bangers will be stealing the good stuff in the rich neighborhoods when there are no police to stop them. Just wait until that starts happening and see how quickly we get the PD back.
I thought most cops and their unions were dems. A repubican wasn't even an option during the last sherrif election here in Chatham Co.Well you see, police HAD TO BE disbanded because they're fascists. and everybody knows that conservatives are fascists because that's what antifa is screaming and the news is playing. So when the conservatives pull out and let crime skyrocket, it will disproportionately affect people of color in the cities that were left to fend on their own because all the good people were tired of being abused by the republican cops.
If it weren't for trump and all his deplorables, we wouldn't have this problem.

Instead, a better option would be for their intended victim to make them dead right there and not have to worry about the govt. showing up to protect and serve the rights of the thug by trying to bring the victim before the legal system at their personal expense.
Exactly. They have won the battle and are supported by media. This is not the end. The injustice will be in other forms. Free this, free that. Free payoff to appease the masses. All paid for by White privilege. You will be taxed to fund it all or their will be buildings burning until cities look like Syria after revolt.Protesters: 'Oh, goodie! We got what we wanted, lets protest for more changes'.
Let's see how this will turn out.
as soon as the first building went up in flames, I figured that's where minneapolis was heading.White flight. It has happened before. Can we say Detroit.

First and foremost- I'm not lashing at this, I know it's true because you're not the first person I know that has (or had) firsthand experience.
But why? Why is this the real job of LE? People should know how bad it is, so they can:
1. protect themselves/be prepared
2. personally push for change in their neighborhoods
3. hold politicians (and police chiefs) accountable when they tie LEOs hands
4. hold judges/judiciary accountable when they turn them back out onto the streets
I know, most people are sheep and don't want to know how bad it is, but they should.
Is this "culture of secrecy" adding to why bad apples are allowed to continue to be bad apples?
Knowledge is power- to everyone, even if they really don't want that knowledge.
I think one issue we overlook is that, by and large, police function as a containment system. If you look at a crime map, and heck even these riot maps, they are all in small areas. The absolute vast majority of the country is pretty darn peaceful. But you get to inner cities therein lies the problem. I live in a small town next to Winston. We have some crime, but by and large the whole area is a "safe" place.
This is also, in some ways, where the "not in my backyard!" mentality comes from. We dont want shopping malls, business centers, apartment complexes, and so forth popping up because often times those things can bring in a "bad element".
For example...if you ask any cop where the worst part of town is, they will probably immediately tell you of a specific confined area where the majority of their resources are spent.
I don't disagree with this- but I still don't think it should be kept quiet about how bad it really is- to me personally, it's a disservice.
An additional point to the 4 above-
5. by knowing, people can advocate getting the LEOs what they need to effectively fight crime. Without knowing, people do assume they have everything they need (manpower, technology, whatever). But by the same token, people would know what the LEOs don't need.

Haha, you know my crippled up old ass ain't going to apply- and if I did, they would laugh at me for trying. It's kinda like when you were raising your children. They don't need to be exposed to every evil in the world and that was your job, too protect them from that and allow them to have a happier life.
But, if anyone really wants to know, I'm sure the application process is open.

Wow, crazy town it is. Is martial law next?
This is also the hardest part to find information on. I can use websites like spot crime.com to find out what is going on in what parts of the city, but it’s difficult to find information on releases from jail and what crime events they had been associated with.This. This is a HUGE part of the problem, well in this country anyway.
Lol, enforced by who?
