Don’t sit on the sideline get in the game. It really is an everybody gets a trophy sport. You make your own trophy. This is a great thread. I have always been curious about brewing and distillation. My father and uncle were well known Moonshine distillers in Durham NC 50 years ago. Both spending time in jail for their (cough, cough) "passion". I have just recently become acquainted with a new neighbor who was a professional brewer for a beer company out of Louisiana. He has some very nice home brews. The kind you would gladly pay for. He has degrees in distilling and chemistry. I look forward to checking this thread regularly, seeing the pics and hearing tasting notes of your creations.
Impressive.I have been brewing for about 16 years. Started with extract and quickly moved to AG. At one point I was brewing about 150 gallons a year. For the past several years, I brew about 20 gallons a year; mostly IPAs, but like to keep a complex big stout on tap to age for about a year. My kegerator will hold 6 kegs; but I have 3 on tap now.
Two 5 gallon batches of IPAs and a nice Brown Ale that is about to kick. Here is my set up - able to do 10 gallon batches at a time. Got to watch that boil kettle close when doing 10 gallons as it is full!

It’s 7% potential or 13.5 on the balling scale. We will have to wait to calculate after primary fermentation is complete.I like blondes! Did you measure the sugars on this? I'm curious about the octane level.

Brewed a Belgian wit yesterday. It’s in the carboy waiting for the yeast to get going.
I decided to go all grain and picked up a 10 gallon cooler from Home Depot. I went to the local homebrew supply store to buy a valve and screen and a brew kit or two. I got all the parts so that will be todays project. That’s the good news.
The supply store is closing its doors by 1 January. They said the tap house side of the business has been carrying the supply side for a while. They can’t continue to lose money so they are closing the store.
They are selling all the inventory. Everything is 35% off. I walked out with 6 kits. I will need to find another supply store. This sucks.
