(I shamelessly stole this thought topic from YT's Bjorn Andreas Bull-Hansen.)

Where do you go to find peace - to restore your center? I have had several over my time on Earth. First was the woods; later, the sea as well. In the past few years I have found a smaller scale place that may be the best of all.

What is/are yours?

The Mill Pond.
It's so freak'n quiet here that you can't help but relax. 14 more months and we'll be here pretty much full time.
By then, my hobby barn on our other lot up the street will be done.
Right now, I'm online at my favorite forum, overlooking glass-like water, and can't hear a sound other than the birds.
Yep, this is my place of peace.

I’ve got 2 places. One deep underwater. It’s quiet and peaceful. The other is the cabin that my dad and I built. 15 miles up a dirt road, 1/4 mile up a pig path and no one in sight for weeks.

Definitely Boone, NC at this point. I'd like some land somewhere sometime but am OK if that never happens. I just love looking towards the Virginia hills. I have sunk a lot of money, time and sweat into this place and plan to pass it down to my kids to hopefully enjoy as previous generations have in the family.

On my Harley is another place of peace, and just as peaceful is being alone in one of my kayaks on a very slow river.
I've owned an Old Town canoe for 35 years, and being in a kayak, especially a sit-in, gives a different perspective. Sitting low
in the water makes you feel more like you're part of the water.

Is that an 8N? We have a 1953.

actually a 57 ford 850, overhead valve four cyl gas 5-speed…roughly 40hp.

I had planned on using an 8n, but the place is less than flat in alot of places….figured I better get a heavier tractor ran across this old 850. Power Steering too! Ooooohhh

My place is the ocean. Being 70 some miles offshore without cell phones and internet. The ocean is so beautiful but will take take your life in a split second. The most scared I’ve ever been was on a boat and the most I’ve felt as peace is on a boat.

I’ve seen it many times by boat. Wouldn’t mind staying there a couple nights but really it’s just a tower rusting away in the middle of the ocean. The guy trying to restore it has an up hill battle on his hands. His has a YouTube channel and posts updates whenever they’re out there.

North Slope AK, Brooks or AK Range, or deep in the woods with powder falling fast. I don't recall being "at peace" in NC, driving the empty snow covered roads at 3am to or from work is pretty close.

I have a few places. First is at church, something about the choir singing and hearing preaching straight from the book puts me at ease. Second would be hunting in the quiet woods no matter for deer, squirrel or turkey. Lastly would be outside at my home, we have a few acres with a pond and it's very peaceful being outdoors on your own property.

Anywhere that kids are playing. Watching kids playing without a care in the world puts me at piece. It doesn’t have to be my Grandkids, just reminds me of times where simpler
Let me send you over a couple! You’ll need a Valium and a stiff drink after they leave! 🤣😂😁

Anywhere in the mountains, any mountains. Anywhere on the water, any water.

I grew up on the St. Johns River in Jax, FL and 15 mi. from the Atlantic. "I was born in the sign of water and that's where I feel my best..."

An aunt of mine lived in Weaverville, NC and I spent several summers with her. I have equal affection for mountains. "Take me home country roads..."

In the woods on a trail. Hiking or fishing. If it's in the Smokies, even better. If I'm miles from the nearest road, perfect.

If you want to know what does it for me the most. The smell of galax and rhododendron thickets. That smell washes a lot of things clean for me.

down by the river
Thank you! I'd forgotten that the Lumber was one of my first, before I even actually realized it!
