Epic Chophouse in Mooresville is pretty good. Never had anything bad there.
Rumor has it they'll be open soon. That being said, hood fire means the fire marshall is involved. Speaking from experience the marshall is a PITA when they inspect.Just checked their website. Temporarily closed, unfortunately, while they fix things after a kitchen hood fire back in October. The site says to go to Fort Mill, SC instead.
Which is fortunate for me, because that's right next to where my youngest daughter goes to school, at Winthrop University!
It’s 35 degrees in Woke county with a 12-15 mph wind.Wife wants to go out tonight, and leave the kids at home. Her idea of going out is walking around, window shopping, then sit down at a nice restaurant for dinner. We'd like to be back home by 10pm at the latest.
Any recommendations on spots for window shopping/ dinner around Pittsboro, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham, etc.?
Thanks!
Not the Liberal bastions of the cities you mentioned but a little chilly to be outside window shopping. Crabtree Valley mall then hit Flemings or the Peddler right up the street. Peddler is my choice BTW Casa Carbone has exceptional Italian also right up Glenwood Ave.Wife wants to go out tonight, and leave the kids at home. On a whim, my wife said, "Find a Brazilian Steakhouse." So, we are headed to Leblon in Greensboro. Bring on the meat sweats!
That's a really good idea...The Gas Station in Saxapahaw.
I just suggest it for everything in that area, honestly.
There are some small shops in the strip it's in, too.
This is a GREAT suggestion. Don’t be fooled by it being a “gas station” restaurant. Excellent food! The Gas Station in Saxapahaw.

When I feel the need to smell the smells of boot camp crossed with Woodstock or the early days of Shakori hills, I go to the general store in Saxapahaw. The Gas Station in Saxapahaw.

I called the Brazilian place to see if i needed a reservation, and I'm glad I did. They were all booked up... I'm so happy I didn't drive an hour there to be turned away. This is a GREAT suggestion. Don’t be fooled by it being a “gas station” restaurant. Excellent food!
It does smell weird... Weird in a good way...When I feel the need to smell the smells of boot camp crossed with Woodstock or the early days of Shakori hills, I go to the general store in Saxapahaw.

She did ask for Brazilian Steakhouse, but not until after I made 20 different suggestions that she hated. So, I still had to fight to get it out of her...HOT D*MN! You gots a wife who actually NAMES a place to eat?!?
Hey...ummm...you sure she's actually got two X chromosomes, right? There's a thing that's been going around now for a while...

She had crab cakes, fried potatoes, and coleslaw. I had a chicken and avocado dinner salad with ranch. The food was fantastic, and she got to do some shopping after. I was very impressed with the selection of groceries in the general store.f
Holy cow, you actually went tonight, score one for the HMP!
Ok, serious questions:
-what did yall get?
-what did yall think?

I had ostrich at Bernardins in WS when I was a senior on prom nightAll right...my wife and I celebrated our 28th anniversary last weekend. We hadn't made up our minds where to go yet when our compadrés called.
They weren't going to use their time share this year, so they decided to set us up with it.
So we spend several days at Surfside Beach, SC.
We hit up Greg Norman Australian Grille.
Appetizer was the Aussie Kangaroo dish (I loved it, she wasn't thrilled).
Her entrée was a this pork chop dish...1 1/4" thick and frickin' awesome!
I asked what their "exotic meats" were. Ostrich, it turns out.
"How would you like it cooked?"
Well, ostrich is a big honkin' bird, right? I'm thinking it probably ought to be cooked like one. But our server asked, as if there's really a choice to be made here. So I asked about it.
"How do you prefer your steak?"
"No more than medium-rare."
"Then I'd recommend the same."
So I had the Ostrich dish, medium-rare.
And let me tell you...Ostrich is a frickin' bird that wants to be a cow!
Not the same as beef, but d*mn well reminiscent of it! I loved this, too.
Then for dessert I had the Pavlova (no, this isn't a drooling dog). My wife had the cobbler.

As you said, it's more like a steak than a chicken breast or something. Also had a purpleish tint to it, which was odd.
So we just went there for lunch todayWe tried a new BBQ spot in Winston this past weekend, East of Texas. They just opened up but seem like they have their stuff together already. Brisket was really good, we got a two person platter and there was plenty of food for us. Awesome outdoor area.
@HMP might be a good date night stop, @Jeppo might be a different locale for a lunch meet.

We’ve only gone twice now. And you’re right, it ain’t cheap. So we just went there for lunch today
My wife is looking at a location in that complex - the owner of EoT is the owner of the whole place. We're there, Im hungry, Ive got to write a paper and cant do it on an empty stomach...lets try it.
I'll be honest - sticker shock.
3 tacos were 17 or 18 bucks for the brisket ones
I did 1/2lb of pork belly and it was 18
Then we did the large tots and queso for a side to split, 8. They making some money on them tots ha
It was good food, for sure. And we will return, but Im not used to spending 45 bucks on two of us to eat lunch (we both got water, too)
Maybe we'd come out better with a full pound to split, I didnt check the menu prices on that.
As stated, my wife is HOPING to get a street-front spot in that complex and it's very nice and up-and-coming area, we love the location and feel of the place. But it'll have to be a date-night thing at those prices. IM BROKE! ha
Good, but hit the wallet hard for a lunchWe’ve only gone twice now. And you’re right, it ain’t cheap.
Any Fayetteville folks able to recommend Max and Moritz on Cliffadale?
If not, is there any good BBQ in Cumberland? I’ve tried The BBQ Hut which was so-so.
Thanks!
It’s been too long since I have visited Skylight Inn. I’m sure folks like the additional menu items, but I remember it best when they truly only sold BBQ, slaw, and bread (sheet cornbread or a bun for a sandwich)This just popped up in my recommended news feed. Made me think of this place.
