My wife’s van also has the law assist and I can only imagine it must have been designed by the 911 hijacker’s as it’s constantly trying to run me off the road into a light pole or bridge abutment.
So you want to plow into the rear of the guy in front of you at 20+ mph more than he's driving? If I set the cruise to 70 mph, I want to go 70 mph…NOT 50mph like the maroon in front of me…
Rant off…unlike my ability to completely shut off the adaptive CC
😂
Yep 2022 Camry, would you like 200 yards, 100, or 75? It doesn't trap you, but if you were gaining the slow down is super subtle, so unless you stare at the speedo it takes a second to realize you're poking along. If someone pulls a few car lengths in front of you going slower it's pretty aggressive. Being as I'm not normally going way over posted I prefer to remain in the right lane as long as possible, and on cruise, it's annoying for that. I guess part of the issue is I expected to really like it since so few maintain steady speed and I wouldn't have to click cancel and reset all the time. Just another disappointmentA couple funny things.
Most of them allow you to adjust the following distances. It's somewhere in the menu settings.
You can still pull out and pass on adaptive. Some of you are talking like it traps you in your lane. lol. It's just cruise without having to reset it if you get stuck and can't pass.
Now the lane assist that physically moves the wheel. Nope, nope, nope; hate it with a passion. The alarms are bad enough but don't start turning my steering wheel.
It's so much better when the joke is explained. 🙅Seems like the biggest problem with these new features is the NUT between the steering wheel and the seat. AKA the driver, or the NUT holding the wheel!
Common sense is not common theses days. It's so much better when the joke is explained. 🙅
It wants you to use your turn signals, then it won't fight you. I wish everyone had that.Bought the wife a Forester about a year ago. I hate the adaptive and the other computer nags. If you approach a slower car and try to change lanes to pass, the #$%& thing will actually fight you keep you from changing lanes. I eventually figured out how to turn it all off. Much better.
A shock seat will work better. It wants you to use your turn signals, then it won't fight you. I wish everyone had that.
Almost like there's no sense in living, right?Adaptive CC doesn’t let me play that game.
Good points CJ. I set and adjust the distance I want the between vehicles and cruise along. Then when I need to pass I do it and it goes back to the same speed. I also use my signals to change lanes so there is no struggle with lane assist, plus no audio beeping.A couple funny things.

I was hoping that discussing it with CFF would help me work through it, but now I see that I will have to get professional help and may need to check myself into a treatment center.Almost like there's no sense in living, right?
That’s why it’s perfect. Set it at 80 and speed control is a piece of cake. Grandma clears the left lane and it accelerates. Catch the next grandma and it slows itself.I haven't used it much, I end up having to keep adjusting it because nobody drives at a consistent speed. May as well just not bother.
Exactly why it should trigger air horns! That’s why it’s perfect. Set it at 80 and speed control is a piece of cake. Grandma clears the left lane and it accelerates. Catch the next grandma and it slows itself.
If it's perfect why is there a whole thread griping about it?That’s why it’s perfect. Set it at 80 and speed control is a piece of cake. Grandma clears the left lane and it accelerates. Catch the next grandma and it slows itself.
I would pay extra for thisI like it. Would be better if it would trigger the air horns when forced to down.
Y’all got issues? If it's perfect why is there a whole thread griping about it?
Like enemies of the state instead of bad drivers. And it will be a different set of people than would otherwise die.
Only if you're in the left most lane.Adaptive cruise control? Does drafting the guy in front of you count?
Yeah I’d definitely have it “off” when driving around charlotte. You leave twenty feet between you and the car in front of you and three asshats are going to try filling the space.Shows we are all different I guess. And don't think I'm a lover of embracing any new technology-I'm older and don't give two hoots in Hades about the "latest greatest" if JUST for the sake of "change" or technology.
I got a 2019 Expedition when retired 1-1-19 (I give GREAT gifts to myself - God loves a giver... 😆 ) and it has it. I absolutely love it. I think it's the best iteration of "cruise control" yet. I love the fact that it backs off coming up on traffic because (as someone said) it requires me to brake way less often. With me being semi-retired and her family in GA we travel a lot. @SPST mentioned passing if gaining-that may be an option in and around CLT or big cities with 3, 4, 5, 6 lane Interstates, but I love that it adapts to the traffic when I can't pass, which is far and away more times that I can in most of the areas I drive. Sure if their speed is WAY less, and I have the option, I'm passing also, but the feature allows me to ride in the slow lane with no foot action UNTIL I get to a passing spot.
