Be sure to keep us up to date on Elaine, Don.Surgery is at 2:00 pm on Wednesday.
Elaine said to tell y'all that she is at peace with the surgery and that she knows it's from all the prayers that she's getting.
That is great news Don. Tell Elaine we're all still praying for speedy and trouble-free recovery.
She came out of surgery about 45 minutes ago. Dr. said she did great! He said the lymph nodes still look clear to his eye.
She's in recovery now. They are going to keep her overnight and probably let her come home tomorrow.
I would too!And...........she's home.
Already bitching about the home care nurse.....
I would too!
Dadgum socialized health care got me this crappy murse who smells like something he calls hoppes number 9 whatever the hell that is.
Best of luck. Thoughts and prayers.
Wise words. People don't like going to the doctor but I'd rather go once than a 100 times for waiting too long. Glad to hear your wife is doing well recovering. We'll all keep praying for herI will make one comment here; Elaine's breast had been "bothering" her for about 6 months. She is very reluctant to go to the doctor. I'm not saying that it would have made any difference if she had gone sooner.......but I'm not saying that it wouldn't have either. If you have a loved one who is experiencing pain or discomfort for no known reason, GET THEM TO THE DOCTOR! It can't hurt and it might help.
If she needs to talk to someone who went thru the cancer journey we can work that out. I hope she has a good sense of humor....she's gonna need it! I'd like to help if she needs to vent or whatever. We met with the oncologist this morning. Didn't get the news we were hoping for, but it isn't as bad as it could be.
Based on the analysis of the tissue removed she has Stage IIIB cancer. Stage III because the lab decided that it was one big tumor rather than the two we'd been told before and that made it a 6 cm tumor. Anything over 5 cm is Stage III. It's B because there are signs that the cancer cells were trying to involve the skin around the tumor.
However, the three lymph nodes they removed were clear and there was no sign of cancer in the periphery of the tissue removed. Both of those are very good things!
The oncologist is going to have another test run and we should get the results in a week to 10 days. Based on those results we may be looking at chemo and/or radiation. Or we may not, it all depends. He does want to have some CT scans done of her body to make sure that the cancer hasn't spread and they just haven't picked it up.

I remember the drains...not pleasant...We had a pretty good day today. She's been laying around taking it easy while I play nurse. I was able to run some errands this afternoon and again tonight so that's good.
She's got two drain . tubes in place with funky little plastic suction bulbs which we have to drain periodically. There is still drainage but it's slowing down.
@Millie, she has a great sense of humor. That's a very kind gesture on your part.If she needs to talk to someone who went thru the cancer journey we can work that out. I hope she has a good sense of humor....she's gonna need it! I'd like to help if she needs to vent or whatever.
