Post your processes and experiences, if you will.
South Carolina makes the process incredibly easy in an online renewal process that requires three things:
1. Your CWP number, located of your permit.
2. A credit/debit card for the $50 fee.
3. About two minutes of your time online.
Here is the SLED link:
https://www.sled.state.sc.us/sled/default.asp?Category=CWPR&Service=CWPR
The conditions for online renewal of your SC CWP are listed there. Basically, if nothing has changed since the last time you applied (same name, address, phone number, etc.) AND you are within 89 days of your expiration date OR have not expired more than 60 days, you are good to go with online renewal.
If you don't meet these criteria, then it has to be a paper application renewal, and an address is provided for that.
If you agree to the terms, the site takes you to another page with two fields to fill in. One is for your CWP number, the other is for your Social Security Number. (The SSN is not retained.)
Submitting that takes you to the method of payment page, where you enter your credit/debit card info for the $50 fee.
And that's it! You're done!
At some point, a new CWP card will be mailed. I'll post when it happens so we can have a time frame for this.
As an interesting side note, South Carolina actually mailed me a post card reminder to renew my CWP as soon as I was in the window to do so. Mighty nice of them, I thought!
