I had some serious issues with math today, or old eyes, either way I struggled to even get the spotter to see my shots.
It was frustrating because I thought I had my dope figured out. After missing a couple at the Mile I fell back to 1,000. No problems there at all, elevation was spot on. 1,000 needed 8.6 Mil, dialed that in and rang the steel. Easy peasy.
Ran my numbers again for the Mile, dialed all of the available elevation in my scope and had to hold 11 mil on the reticle. No problem, my Burris has a great reticle and hold overs are easy....unless you misread “20” as “10”.
Doh! I probably blew through 20 rounds holding 36 Mil instead of the 26 I needed! No wonder the spotter didn’t see anything!
Once I figured out my mistake, I was able to make 4/10 hits. Winds were inconsistent at around 3-5mph, with some gusts and lulls thrown in for good measure.
All around a beautiful and fun morning on the long range!
