A few years ago I decided that I wanted a gun made the year that I was born. I had looked and could find the year before or the year after or something that I didn't really want. I had bid on a few on Gun Broker only to get outbid by someone with much deeper pockets.
Recently, I found one that I liked and I was sure that I would get outbid on it. But, I went ahead and placed my maximum bid. Three days to go and I was the high bidder at about half of my maximum bid. Three or ten times a day I would look and no other bids had been placed. About an hour before the auction was to end, another bid was placed. I was still high bidder. Then another bidder. This made me start to question my bid. Did I need to increase it? Yes, No, Maybe. I decided to let it ride, I had been disappointed before, one more time wouldn't hurt me.
The auction ended at $5 less than my maximum! Here is my 1952 Smith & Wesson M&P .38 Special. In great condition and the grips number to the gun. It has held up better in it's 67 years than I have.
