That is incredible.... i cannot imagine being in that fishbowl while people are shooting at you trging to bring you down. Unbelievable the balls these guys had.

Son of a... I hate you and your formerly deep pockets! I'm hoping I can get a ride in one someday.

Wow! That's incredible! All the signatures on the side of the plane, are those the people that did the restoration?

Nice x1000.

I can only dream of the opportunity to fly and fire off a few hundred rounds from that front seat.

I LOVE that pic looking over the wing. That was an amazing experiance I bet!

It's one of my favorites to. All these pictures were done on my Iphone6s. No editing was done. So I was impressed with that one haha.

I believe so.. it did crash twice in the mid 80's and early1990's

Now you just need to 3D print yourself your very own B17. ;)
Little plastic here and there. Some hold Harley engines and I'll have a scale replica.

Nice. Took the family out to tour Aluminum Overcast when it came to Hickory a few weeks back. Must have hit my head a dozen times crawling through that thing. Not a lot of space in there. That cat walk through the bomb bay is tiny too. Very cool to get to tour one though.

That is so incredibly awesome! I'm jealous.

That is great Dustin! I would have hit the bomb release button over Chapel Hill.
I did push it. If something had happen I would of simply stated "no one told me NOT to touch it..." haha
I thought you had to be old enough to have a driver’s license to get in the machine gun bay?

Which bay? Didn't seem any age restriction. There was a kid no more than 5 who was having a ball. He wanted to feel the wind rush through his hair at the rear top gunner position. Three of us held him up enough (basically to our chins height) just so he could feel the wind.

Yea the cat walk you really need turn side ways. I kept hitting my insulin pump so I had to put it at my 6 o'clock. Image having all the gear on climbing through.

Fantastic! I watched you fly over from my yard... And that was an amazing sight. I had never seen any of these planes fly in person before.

Ya u suck! Lol I'm mom's step dad was a B17 pilot in the Pacific in WWii. Shot down 3 times. I would love to fly in a real war bird one day :)

Very, very nice. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Saw the B-24 a few times in the air this weekend, I would have loved to have seen the B-17.

So awesome. Did they really have that much glass/plexiglass in them like around the waist gunner positions, etc. or was that added to make it a cooler experience?

Posting this because I know we have some aircraft enthusiasts here. Sad day.

At least two dead, multiple people injured, after vintage plane crashes at Conn. airport

Oct. 02-- HARTFORD, Conn.-At least two people have died and more were seriously injured in a fiery plane crash at Bradley International Airport Wednesday morning.

A vintage plane crashed about 10 a.m., bursting into flames and sending up a large plume of smoke that could be seen for miles. Sources say it crashed into a shed as it was trying to land.

While there is no official word on the number of deaths, sources say at least two people have died and three others have critical injuries.

The plane is a B-17, according to the Windsor Locks Fire Department.

Does anyone know which B-17 crashed?
There aren't many left... :(
Prayers for crew & families.
Looks like it's the Nine-0-Nine.

It was the Collings Foundation B-17 named 909. The initial reports are that the pilots reported an issue on takeoff it wasn't making full power and they gained little altitude. They attempted to return to the airport and crashed at some point on landing into the tank farm for deicing liquid.

She was at RDU just about 2 years ago with a B-24, B-25, and PT-51 all Colling's birds.

I believe this is the same B-17 my son flew in a few years ago. Sad indeed.

Dick weed Richard Blumenthal is within hours of crash calling for all of these historical flights to be grounded because of the tragedy.

What I find amazing is this scumbag lied about serving in Vietnam, and not only does he get elected, he serves on the Senate Committee on Armed Services.
