I noticed, a few months ago, that all the local Walmarts have started posting an employee at both exists. Any time a person walks toward the exit carrying anything that's not in a bag, they stop you to ask for your receipt. They scan the receipt with a special scanner to see if you actually paid for it or not.
So, I decided months ago that I just was not going to stop for inspection. I honestly feel that they are treating honest customers like potential criminals. I have never stolen anything from any store. So, I decided that I would not comply.
Every time that one of these employees has asked me for my receipt I keep walking and politely say, "No, thanks. Have a good day!"
That's the way it has played out 20 or so times over the last few months, until today...
Today, I walked into the Siler City Walmart. I bought a Turkey Frying kit (pot, stand, propane regulator) and a 12pk of Bud Light.
I went to self check out, showed ID to the lady for my beer, made a joke about how I must look over 40 by now, and scanned both items. Then I paid, grabbed my receipt, and shoved it deep into my front pocket (under my LCP2 pocket holster); excited to walk past the door person carrying two items, not in a bag.
As I walked toward her, I saw her pick up the scanner and she said, "Hi sir! Can I see your rec...." I kept on walking and cut her off saying, "No thanks! Have a good day! " as I rounded the corner toward the parking lot.
Just as I got through the sliding doors into the cross walk I heard two voices behind me shouting, "SIR! SIR! WE NEED TO SEE YOUR RECEIPT. SIR! COME BACK HERE! "
I kept walking at exactly the same pace and never looked back. I pretended not to hear them as I went straight to my truck.
I put my two items into the truck, cranked up, and drove straight to the door, from which I had just come out, hoping to see the employees that had been calling out to me.
I drove past the door and saw an older lady and a teenage boy (with the stupidest haircut I have ever seen) both wearing yellow vests, and both starring straight at me. I can only describe it as "white trash death stare ".
I drove by very slowly, smiled, and waved as I went past... They did not wave back...
Hahaha
My wife said I'm probably on a list now and next time I go back they'll be watching me even closer.
We'll see. I say, "Let them watch."
