When you guys do something like this, how is it spotted? How many rounds fired that day we’re misses?

If there are misses, how are they spotted and relayed to you?

a good spotter watching your trace is crucial. Ideally, you can catch the “splash” on your miss and adjust from there.

Coleman has a flasher on their target so I knew when I hit, after they closed he went and verified it physically cause they put your name on a plaque. There were several of us shooting at it. That was my 2nd shot and I quit. Had a good idea of wind based on other shooters and the other targets we had shot at closer distance. Had another person on a spotting scope helping with wind calls for the group. The hit at 12 o'clock was with a 300 norma by a friend. In all 4 people probably put 20 rounds at it and only 2 hits. Wind was crazy elevation was pretty easy. They also have a couple of big squares we were hitting pretty easily but they were more forgiving on wind. You have to have a decent spotter to help with wind calls.

Also need a good ballistic calculator. I use kestrel with applied ballistics. It got me close on wind and dead nuts on elevation. Spotter got me the remaining wind call correction.

Clinton also used a Magneto flasher hit indicator.

I did it with my Tikka at BangSteel. 140 gr eldm over 41.5 gr h4350. Dialed 16 mil and held 8 iirc. Fired first shot and made my corrections and hit 2,3&4.

Also hit it with 338 lapua but that was like cheating. Going to Coleman’s creek tomorrow. Might see if the dasher can get there lol

For a doctoral level info dump on long range shooting, check out Mat Tibor on utoob. He has a series called Sniper 101 and it’s not about crawling through the weeds to whack the enemy. Mat’s Thing is first round cold bore hits on soda cans from over 1k. The info on interior ballistics is very interesting.

This is pretty cool! well done.

you do need to change the term to: Mile Hi(t) Club though or put the t in a white almost invisible font color for us perves

Have to look in my book, if memory serves me right 74 MOA for 300WM with 215 Berger @ 1mile. Have not shot that far for 3yr now, I pick really good days for that kinda shooting.
