10/22 magpul stock owners

I bought a heavy barrel 10/22 locally for $380. Throw the BX trigger in it and magpul hunter stock. Was t expecting much but ended up shooting under .5” at 50 with cci standard velocity.

I was so impressed, I picked up the 60th anniversary edition today, it comes in the magpul stock.

I was getting 7-8” vertical spreads at 50, couldn’t figure it out…. I was also 15” low compared to the other 10/22.

Took the barrel channel out, flipped it to the bull barrel side and everything was good to go. It isn’t a bull barrel, but something was going on.
Here’s so quick 5 shot and 10 shot groups at 50 with a 7x scope.

The narrower channel may have been putting some weird pressure on the barrel messing with harmonics. Some folks like to put small pressure pads in the barrel channels to help get them dialed in but doesn’t look like yours needs anything now.

I’m a big fan of the Magpul 10/22 stock as well. I was at the range the other day and shot that rifle for the first time in a while. It brought a smile to my face to see 1/2” groups at 25yd w CCI SV!

yeah, I was a little bit depressed that my off-the-rack 10/22 TAKE DOWN was outshooting the $1,500 'custom precision' AR.
