I have a Springfield EMP Ronin 4" with the blued slide. These are prone to rust and I don't want to deal with constantly oiling or waxing it. What are my options for a durable, smooth coating? Like Nidride, DLC, Melonite, etc? Does anyone local do this or do I need to ship it out? Recommendations?

My vote is for Cerakote. What’s your location? Shouldn’t be to difficult to find a local vendor.

Do nickel or hard chrome have any appeal to you?

Not familiar with your area. Here is a shop in Sanford NC that does great work. I’ve personally seen several samples of their work.

Not interested in Cerakote

Agreed on the cerakote….kydex eats it immediately and even leather wears it quickly

I sent my stainless springer slide to Middlebranch Machine in Ohio for Aluminum Titanium Nitride. It is expensive and takes 2 or so weeks, but it is hard as nails and slick. Once and done finish and it isn’t thick enough to change any of the tolerances.

Well I finally got my hands on the Prodigy so I think I'll just move the EMP instead of dropping another $300 in it.

Metalife has been around a long time and is arguably one of the best of metal coatings. I plan to send some things to them. But, I don't know if they can do it in black.
