The Marine Corps has been stoic in it's decision to never lower standards to allow for social experimentation in their ranks.
I have always said, I will serve beside anyone, male, female, gay or straight, so long as they were not given preferential treatment or lowered standards to get there.
It is extremely impressive that she is about to complete this course. Most women do not have the physiology to complete such a course. The most common issue is separation of the tendons in the calf with females who attempt such a rigorous course. Women just were not designed to carry such heavy loads.
I would love to see a picture of this woman. One thing you can be certain of is that she doesn't look like Demi Moore in that crappy Seal movie.
That's all well and good. But completing the course says nothing about unit cohesion. How does a fighting unit comprised of a motley of gay/straight/men/women/trannies fare relative to a unit comprised of straight men, especially under fire, or extended periods of time at the front?I have always said, I will serve beside anyone, male, female, gay or straight, so long as they were not given preferential treatment or lowered standards to get there.
This has been studied multiple times. The findings are always that all male units outperform mixed units. That's all well and good. But completing the course says nothing about unit cohesion. Passing the course also says nothing about how many years of combat service the military can expect from someone - as it turns out, this measure is not the same across genders. It's interesting how often female soldiers just happen to get preggars right before deployment.

Gotta love Duffelblog.........
lol
I will be surprised if she get's an infantry platoon. Strong money says she gets a staff/support job. Stronger money says if she does get a platoon, she won't make it through an entire tour. That is a brutal lifestyle, and I imagine her body will break down. It's not a slam on her, at all: she finished a very demanding course; but rather, an indictment of the punishing lifestyle of living a grunt's life.
That's funny. Young women training in gymnastics are told by their coaches that if they get their period it meant they weren't training hard enough. [emoji38]That's funny, but in all seriousness, she probably trains so hard she doesn't have periods any more.
