2004 Silverado "build"

If I ever actually buy a NEW truck, it'll be a 3/4 ton. Specifically with Chevy, I can't buy a half ton with the options I want...or rather, I'd be forced into buying options I don't want. Their 2500 can be optioned exactly like I want, and it's ~$6k or so cheaper than the closest equivalent 1500

This one's mine, ordered as close to exactly like I wanted as I could get.
I would have liked black wheels, but they cost $2000.
The only option I really wish I could have is dual-zone AC. That costs many thousands more with the LT trim and LT convenience package.

Nice looking truck. Except the color. :p

You can often find factory take off wheels for a song on FB marketplace. 50% to 25% of what the option cost on a new truck.

Check at the local to you 4x Drive shops.
I picked up a set of 17" alum wheels with good tires for my '05 Yukon a few years ago for $400 out the door.
Kids want something diff than stock, so you may be able to made a score.

Got the gears done today.

I've rebuilt/regeared a lot of diffs in my career. Probably 100 or so of them. Mostly rear diffs, but quite a few Dana front diffs as well.

Today was the first GM IFS diff I've done. Not a fan of messing with them.

But it's done. Not a night and day difference between the stock 3.73's and the new 4.10's, but definitely a noticeable difference.

And with that finished, the "build" on this truck is done. At this point, it is exactly what I'd buy if I could choose the exact options I wanted on a truck.
