Still a viable round? Ballistics look really good. I know there are better rounds, 223 etc. but where I hunt the 22 hornet would be much easier to supress. Thinking about trying to find one.

great little round, but not rimfire.
What you hunting?
Mod note: thread moved out of Rimfire section
I realized that after I posted. Deer mainly. Coyotes possibly. And I know I’ll get some negative feed back for the deer, but I have a 100 percent kill rate with .22 mag. I don’t take shots over 100 yards.
Head shot. 85 yards. Savage minimalist .22mag. My latest bag.As with all things there are tradeoffs. Can you explain the advantage of 22hornet over say 300blk for a 100 yard deer gun? (I’m assuming “surprises“ in your original post was an auto-correct of “suppresses.”)
i gotta go look up the ballistics on 22mag at 100 yards, I assumed it would not be effective.
wasn’t doubting that it works for you, just surprised that it retains much energy. I’ve never owed anything in 22mag.View attachment 719693View attachment 719694Head shot. 85 yards. Savage minimalist .22mag. My latest bag.
I have an ar style .22 and .22mag, along with bolt actions in each for plinking. So this would be strictly a hunting rifle. I also have a Deadair primal in a holding cell. I hope it will be released by next hunting season. So that will open up a lot more options. Maybe .243, .270 or 300 blackout. .22 hornet is a round I was not familiar with and just grabbed my interest.wasn’t doubting that it works for you, just surprised that it retains much energy. But to my question, if you’re buying a new gun, why not get something that costs less to shoot, is a lot easier to find, suppresses well and makes a bigger hole?
If the answer is just because it’s whatbyou want, that’s fine, I’m not trying to be argumentative, just wonder what benefit you get.
BTW, 22 k-hornet in a 14” Contender is a laser beam.
