Do you think a 22lr fun shoot could be a fund raiser? Use something like this month's target in the other thread, charge $10 a target and winner/highest score takes half at the end of the day

What you think?

About the same type idea as a Turkey Shoot … just .22’s instead of 12’s. As long as you have a good network to get out the word and run something that requires just enough skill to take out the luck factor but not make it so hard novices (especially youth shooters) cant really compete at a winning level you got a good event. Referencing Turkey Shoots … there is nothing more fun than seeing a 12 year old win his first shoot … same could be said for a .22 Fun Shoot … maybe have a special “youth” prize also.

As much as I hate to say it, as soon as $$ is involved somebody is gonna get their drawers twisted. Especially if it’s an “honor system” where folks post or mail in their targets.

In person, it’s be a ton of fun!

Edit: I’m realizing now you were just referencing the monthly fun match not looking to turn that into a prize/fundraiser

It would be in person, sell some drinks, shoot some targets, shoot some bull. Need to fund a youth organisation, shooting team/club.

You can actually run a couple other different contests also. Run the $10 Best Target as the “main event” but run say a couple Cold Bore Closest To The “X” for a $2 entry or other “quickie” type contests. Spread the chances of winning something around and you’ll have people hang around longer … and buy more drinks and such.

I use to run a money match with centerfire rifles. you can do it with rimfire as well.

Here is what I ran.

1 shot per-round hit = in, miss = out
Time: 1 min for 1 shot
Up to 5 shooters per-round
Target used.

Round 1: Shot must hit the target
Round 2: Shot must touch or be inside the circle
Round 3. Shot must touch the black diamond (few times we got to round 3 or more)

House takes half of pot, last man standing takes the other half of the pot, and bets among the onlookers encouraged.

I think that's an awesome idea! I'm probably too far out to participate but it definitely sounds like a fun and cheap way to do a fundraiser and have fun while doing it.

I used to shoot rimfire competitions at several gun clubs back in the day. The usual buy in was $10 & $5 for refires. Winners got plaques. Money went to the host club for maintenance of club grounds & youth events. It wasn’t about $$, it was about getting together to have fun and support clubs, kids, & the shooting sports.
For a day of shooting fun and fellowship I’d gladly drive a couple hours & spent a ten spot or two.
