.22LR long range build advice

I dabble in “long range” 22. I shoot a bergara b14r steel barrel model. I’ve gone to 400 yards a few times and it’s about as much fun as you can have with a 22 imo. Make sure you get a scope with enough adjustment if you don’t want to have to hold over….400 yards is over 20 mils with standard velocity ammo.

Anybody using a CZ457 and a rail scope mount such as area 419 or EGW? Interested to see if anyone is finding the need to use a cheek riser if using a rail?

Good question.
I run a Bushnell Nitro 2.5-10 in low Warne rings, no rail, on my 457 Pro Varmint. Currently do not have a cheek riser, but I find it to be borderline whether one is needed or not.

With the Boyd’s AT-One and medium rings on the receiver dovetail I find it still feels high, but I know there’s a good many folks running rails either for the built in MOA advantage or pic. mount capabilities

I just put my 457 PV and Area 419 rail together a few days ago. I have a 30mm scope in the lowest Seekins rings I could buy.

I do feel like I need to build up the stock a little to be comfortable.

I can get a measurement for you if you want, but low rings on the A419 base seem about like medium-tall rings just on the dovetail.

30mm tube or objective?

.22 TSC Match at Catawba Valley Rifle and Pistol Club in Conover, NC is this Saturday at 900am.

I guarantee you will see every kind of .22 there. From $334 Savages (my daughter's favorite) to $3,000 Vudoo's. Maybe even a Martini.... Ole Grandpa.

It will also give you a look at the most "precision" match in the Long Range .22LR game. PRS setups are hard... this is a challenge.

You will see some of the best rifle shooters in this part of the country. One is reigning USA 2021 NRL22 National Champ and Sponsored Vudoo shooter.; and even he has serious competition in the group.

5 Stages 57, 112, 163, 212, 236 60 Shots
Square Range - No problems to watch
Great Learning, folks are friendly
You get a chance to look through the glass, maybe even spot for a shooter
Not a Gear Race Match... you can use one bag. Bipod and one bag. Bag can be, wedge or gamechanger or backpack.

It's unique... we have been doing this type of shooting with .22LR long before it has come on as the highest growing discipline in shooting.

*Edit: HA! Got the name of my own Club wrong... long day y'all... long day.

Ive never heard of this place. A quick Google search only shows Catawba Valley.
Am I missing something and you got the name right or did aurocorrect get ya?

Seems to be the general consensus if adding a rail with the 457, end up adding to stock

I’ve got a cz457 mtr precision with the area 419 30 moa and no additional riser, have a Viper PST Gen II 3-15 x 44 scope. Works fine for me but I'm not an expert in the long range stuff.
