OK guys I'm wanting to practice alot more with my Ar. I have a cmmg 22lr bolt conversation but it's not very accurate. I have found the chiappa uppers for $260. Are they any good? Or am I better off looking for a m&p 15-22?

I have a spare lower to put the 22lr upper on. Thanks

Nordic Components I feel is one of the best available. They are the OEM manufacturer for JP Enterprises and DPMS .22 uppers. I own two and have had the first one since 2011. They run like a champ and have good accuracy. The only Fail to Fire or Feed I've had in nearly 10k rounds has been a handful with Remington rimfire ammo.

Yes, I realize this upper cost more than a S&W M&P 15-22, but that's like comparing a Ford/Chevy to a Porsche.

Get a dedicated CMMG .22 AR upper. They work extremely well, very reliable. Chippa products/firearms in general are spotty at best. Of course I own a S&W 15/22 also and its great too. I have used both in rimfire 2 gun matches and both do equally well. I can use both black Dog mags or M&P 15-22 mags with the lower I use with the CMMG upper. I just put a small section of sticky back loop side velcro on the top of the back mag rib and it makes the 15-22 mags snug and they have no forward/back play. They have run as reliable for me as they do in the 15-22.

An important consideration is the amount of accuracy you are trying to achieve. Are you shooting a precision format on a bench or are you shooting a moving cqb course? The 15-22 is plenty accurate for 20 to 50 yard silhouette targets.

I'm looking for min of bad guy at 25yds. I'm going to do some more shooting tomorrow with the 22 bolt.

does anyone have the cmmg bolt? Have you had any issues with the barrel getting leading or the gas tube getting fouled with the 22lr?

My neighbor just built a .22 upper with 16" Beyer barrel, Aero upper, 15" MLOK rail, CMMG BCG and BCM CH. It is AWESOME

Is that a gen2 NF lower under your CMMG upper?

I'd steer well clear of the Chiappa uppers. Had one, never will again.

I second the CMMG upper, I had one and it ran great until it was so full of crud it looked like it had been tarred.

Welp, I know where more of my money's going. I have that same lower collecting dust at the moment.

Any advice on where to find one of these uppers?

I went through the same thing and I bought a 15-22 and freaking love it. A dedicated upper would be nice so I could run my geissele SSA-E all the time but it's all good. I'm probably going to drop a CMC trigger in my m&p and buy the tacticool rail conversion so I can put an ar15 rail on it.

I have a CMC trigger in mine, but it's apart in the floor, waiting on a stamp.
