I recently picked up a Ruger Precision 22 and put a Vortex 4-12 scope on it. I may play with it at rimfire precision matches or something but I'm not sure what I should zero it to. My gut says 50yds and then build good dope from 25-150 or so...

What say the rimfire brain trust?

50 yards is a good zero range. coming in from there to 25 yards the zero is usually almost the same and usually between 35-45 yards will be .1-.2 mils below your zero. I zero my rifle at 50 yards and shoot matches to 400+ yards without problems.

This. Download strelok or get a kestrel with AB and you’re good to go out past 300.

Mine are at 50yd because that’s the distance our CFF rimfire challenges have to be shot. 😁

Except for the pump 22 with a 4x scope, which is sighted in at 40’ with CB Shorts…for rabbits in the yard. 🤣

Took it out to DPRC yesterday with @NKD and got it zeroed more or less. Should be a tack driver with match ammo. I don't have any so we were shooting a variety of standard stuff. So much fun on the multitude of steel targets there after we moved from paper.

Day was cut short by a subsonic round squib and I didn't have a rod with me... 🙄

What can you do?

50 then build dope is what I'd do. Check out the little charts for 22lr dope at Range 0 (rimfire range) at DPRC. Those were accurate to my rifle and ammo (CCI standard velocity) when I tried them, last time I did 22 precision shooting.
