Went to shoot my new ruger African 300 win mag today with ammo that I believe came from Fort Bragg. The rifle holds 3 rounds but could only load 1 or 2 roungs. Ended up just single feeding the ten rounds that I had and they shot with no problems after that. Got home and compared the ammo with some Hornady 180 gr and the Hornady is much shorter. Loaded the Hornady in the rifle and they loaded just fine so the other ammo is too long to load properly. What are the thoughts on this?

Like posted above what is on the head stamp? From those pics it just looks like different bullets same case. Some bullets are too long to feed from a magazine and require single feeding.

Show us the head stamps.

I had asked about this ammo in another thread awhile back. It was determined to be fc= federal cartridge
18 = year made and 190 to 220gr

If the only problem with it is I have to single feed it I will shoot it and get rid of it as long as it doesn't mess up my new gun.

The Mk248 Mod 0 features a 190gr Sierra Match King bullet, while the Mk 248 Mod 1 features a 220gr Sierra Match King bullet.

Depending on which you have, it is loaded a lot hotter. And they are longer because from what i have read the chamber is different on the Military Rifle designed to shoot it.

Well they are fun to shoot and give the steel plate a good hammering at 100

You can find all kinds of nfo over at the
Snipershide forum. It is loaded higher than SAAMI specs. Overall length is greater.

Some other reading here.
