This is an older post of mine but it's gotten a ton of hits on other sites. I thought I'd reshare it here since we're building back up. I need to update it with the TTI +1 baseplate but haven't had a chance yet.

I picked up my new Glock 43 today and thought I'd take some pics showing how it compared to my XDs and Shield. I tried to label all of the pics so hopefully everything is explained there. Basically the 43 is lighter and smaller in every dimension except the thickness at the slide stop lever where the Shield is .1mm thinner. All of this of course comes at the "cost" of 1 less round.

There's a lot of great information in those pics. I've found bits and pieces of that before but not all of the info in one place and with pics!! You can also add a Magguts kit to you factory mag if you like the stock baseplate.

Good comparison. Thanks for the time and work.

Now do a recoil comparo with 50rds of 124gr +p and tell us which one wins;)

I switched to 147gr HST
I felt the 43 was the best and the XDS was the worst. My wife thought the Shield was the best though for whatever that's worth. The 2 were pretty close and probably come down to how they fit.

I carry the XDS and i like it. I have owned a 43 and enjoyed it as well and i shoot a friends shield some and im not so fond of it. I feel that the shield grip just isnt there for me!

Yeah my wife carries a Shield and loves it. I'm like you though. I'm not particularly fond of it. It just feels kinda cheap for some reason. It's been 100% reliable but I just don't like the feel of it.

Not anymore thanks to Taran Tactical...

You should check out the Hyve Technologies +2 baseplates for the Glock 43. You might like.

I bough a Shield a little bit before the 43 was released, and while I am a fan of Glocks, it has performed well enough and fits my hands well enough that I haven't considered trading it out.

I have, however, considered trading it out for a Shield in .45.

I love my g43 but it gets into your hand with 124gr +p. I'm thinking I'll probably switch to standard pressure.

I haven't seen them yet. I have TT+1s, VTAC +2s, and Strike Eagle +2s. All have worked well. Didn't buy and TT+2s after reading Taran's own posts about them having failure issues and problems with the springs. Probably have it worked out now, but I'm pretty well covered on mags now...

I run the TTI +1 on my carry mag and their +3 on my back up mag. I saw something about having to cut the tabs off the mags to run Hyves. Is that correct?

Great job! Good stuff! You need to now include the Kahr CM series. It is shorter, smaller and lighter than a G43. Carries 6 rounds of .40. I carried 2 G43s for over a year and in my continuing chase of smaller, lighter, powerful EDCs, this is where I am for now. Ever evolving, even after carrying legally in S.C. since 1976, I am willing to try something easier on me to tote around. I do INDEED carry every step and shoot every day. The Kahrs with 6 rounds of 180s weight less than a G43 loaded with 115s. They are also ever so smaller. I do the Hackathorn Wizard drill 3 or 4 times a week and have no trouble passing . Only the first try counts.

Give some 147 grains a shot. Heavier bullets perform better in small pistols. 147gr HSTs are my carry load.

I run the same set up

I use the same setup as Derek.
I like the TTI a lot.
The problem with the original TTI +2 is that it didn't come with a spring I think. So it worked in some mags and not in others.

I used the HYVE +2 and it was good quality and did not require mag ears to be removed. But I had problems.
IMO, it's worth getting the TTI spring if you are using +2 or 3.

The TTI come with them, but they can be purchased separately.
At least test yer mags after they have sat for a while.
