Gonna piddle with loading some 5.56/69gr RMR BTHP for a 16" barrel carbine gasser.
I've got some Varget and H335 on hand but was curious what other newer powders may be useful in that set up.
I haven't done a whole lot of loading for gas guns in particular so thought I'd ask first.. Thanks..

I’ve used neither of those for 5.56, but I know others who have and were quite pleased.

I typically use 8208XBR, but since the supply of it seems to have up and vanished like a fart in the wind, I switched over to RS TAC.

Lots of good powders for that application.

I use Varget and 8208 for my precision loads (typically 75gn Hornady bthp). They both have low temperature coefficients.

For light bullets in my 8.5" barrel AR pistol, I like H4198. A lot less bark and muzzle flash. Works well in my mid-length 16" carbine, but has to be at the upper end of the charge range to cycle reliably. Economical, since max charge with a 55gn bullet is 21.0gn.

And there is the old standby, H335. Meters nicely compared to the stick powders.

Either one of the two you listed should work nice. I have no H335 experience, but Varget I would look around 24-25 grains.

If you are itching to buy a new powder (and this is based on what I have seen actually on the shelf around), I would think about N135, Benchmark, TAC.

Dunno that I'm "itchin" for a new powder. But I am a-sniffin'. 🤓
If I'm workin up new loads I wouldn't mind checkin' out some newer powders if there's benefits.
I.e. real temp stability/cleaner burning, etc. I've been out of bottlenecks for a bit.
Varget seems like it may be a bit slow for a 16" barrel.
H335 seems like it may be kinda fast for heavies and I have it mainly for the lil BS 55gr loadings.
Not ta say that either wouldn't work. I'll def try'em cause ya never know and I ain't overly concerned with top velocity.
That said, I don't want it to just "fart and fall out the barrel" either. 😁😉

Picked up a couple of what I saw in stock that was in between the H335 and Varget I have on hand. N135 and TAC.
No tellin what all else might hafta be played with this go around.
They had a lot of powder out and they're selling guns now.
Not a lot in stock, but a few.. Lots of other stuff as well. Scopes and accessories.
I see a bigger place in their future.. 🤖 👍

My experiences loading heavy 223 rem:

H335 is a little fast for 69 gr but would work
Varget runs out of case capacity and velocities aren’t there
Tac or AA2520 achieve velocity and consistency with 69/77 gr projectiles
