I would like to start a discussion on the 6.5 PRC round. I was looking at Christensen Arms for a new rifle and it was suggested that I look at the 6.5 PRC round. I already have 30-06, 7mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag. So thoughts? especially when comparing the 6.5 PRC to 7mm Rem Mag.

From my reading, 6.5 PRC is just a "hotrodded" 6.5 of the latest type.

I reserve the right to say no more, as I'm only a custodian of a 6.5 Swede..........

Hornady is bragging that it is 200 fps faster than the 6.5 creedmore, is that really that much of an improvement? I am leaning toward getting it only because I do not think having 2 7mm Rem Mag rifles.

Out of a 24 inch tube I've seen the 156 gr bergers go 3000 with no pressure. 6.5 creed will never see 2800 fps with a 156 in its dreams.

Being able to shoot the prc out of a short action is a plus. Also having so many different options with projectiles since the 6.5 bullet is so popular.
I know I have boxes of different 6.5 projectiles laying around just from shooting the creed and a 260 for a few years. It was also geared towards the NRL hunter series. Those heavy 6.5 boolits have some great BC.

The Christensen Arms rifle I am looking at has a 20" barrel for the 6.5 PRC. Not sure why it is this short but they said that is the barrel length for that round.

I've got friends searching the universe looking for 6.5 PRC components with very little luck. I was at a LGS and my friend asked if they had any rifles in that caliber and they said they had one but no ammo whatsoever and no hope of getting any. The did have a few boxes of 6.5-300 Bee though!;)

And that is the real concern. Natchez has the dies and lock-n-load modified case for the 6.5 but where is the brass? All of this makes me think to just buy a Tavor 95 in 300 blackout. The total opposite of this rifle but I don't need the aggravation.

Whut are you gonna use the 6.5prc for? Might help narrow down the discussion. Personally if I can't buy 300-500 pieces of brass right off the top that will eliminate any caliber that I choose.

Basically bench shooting and hunting. White tail and hopeful get out some of kind of hunts where there are some distance shots.
