What ever happened to this caliber? This used to be my favorite round, hands down, especially for hunting. Now it's like everyone has quit producing them, including PSA. What gives? I'm wanting another 6.8, and they just aren't out there, especially not for trade.

I had a few in the day, even at one point had all 3 Remington 700's produced in 6.8 at the same time. Sold them all and now I'm regretting it, and can't find another.

I've looked at getting an "off caliber" upper. I'm having a hard time justifying getting 6.8 instead of 300 BLK, even if you're not into SBRs or suppressors.

6.8 doesn't have near the ammo choices, and apparently aren't even available anymore.. but I've had them shoot much better than MOA at 100, and that's out of a gas gun. I haven't played with .300BLK much, but I'd still much rather have another 6.8

Anderson still sells a 6.8 barrel. I believe it is about $106.

I have 2 on AR platforms. The first one has killed 5 deer. I have not sighted in the 2nd one yet.

In my opinion, I would take the 6.8 over the .300BO. Yes I have a BO also.

I built one as a pig gun off a War Sport GPR-E before I moved to TX a few months ago, the best deal I found to buy just a bolt was through Stag if I'm not mistaken. While the majority of the time I still prefer my .300, the 6.8 definitely serves a purpose as a hunting round in an AR platform.

I've been thinking that too man. Not a bad brush gun.

I have enjoyed mine, but would never have considered one if I were not a reloader.

I actually just looked up and Anderson sells a complete BCG that's decently affordable. I think if I build another I'm gonna go that route.

Awesome, if I do another I'll take a look at them. between the Grendel and the .300 though I think one 6.8 will satiate me ha.

I think it's because the same company that bought CSC and NCGO bought 68Forums earlier this year. :D

I have one 6.8, it's a Bison BSP I cut down to 12", and has a YHM ULT always on it. If I ever got into hunting, it would be my go-to rifle.

The round is alive and well.

I went 6.8, as anything "6.5" was priced as if it were gold-plated at that time. Got a Bison Army 18" SPR profile. Shoots lights out at the ranges I shoot at & hits hard.

I missed out on the cheap S&B & Fed ammo, but have plenty of loaded ammo from SSA & Hornady, from 90 gr TNTs to 110 Accubonds to 120gr SSTs. Even a few hundred 95gr TTSXs & enough powder, primers & projos to load the 1200 or so rds a couple times over.

Charles If your looking for a 6.8, head over to http://ar15performance.com/. Harrison makes some awesome barrels. He also has some great wildcats also.

http://www.ironworkstactical.com/

http://bisonarmory.com/

Both are great places for the 6.8.

BTW I own 2 of them and they are great for anything up to 400 yards. Cheap(er) ammo can be found if you look hard enough. Most hunting ammo is still a bit on the expensive side. You will want to get into reloading for sure.

The 6.5 and 6.8 are fairly evened matched up to that distance.

If you just want a barrel swap, look at the 277 wolverine also.

I am putting together a 300blk just for sub shooting. My 6.8 is still my everything rife.
