What is everyone's opinion on AK barrel length? How short can you actually go and the gun still be effective to kill a white tail deer or two legged animals in cqb situation?

Any issues with 10.5 or there abouts as far as dwell time or running a can?
If you ever find yourself in the eastern portion of the state you would be welcome to it out with or without a can

If you do not already have a can - Ballistic Research is located in Richlands NC- highly recommend. They have a nice titanium can that they machine in house, lightweight, user serviceable and rated for full auto.
They re threaded the barrel on our AKs to make sure the threads were concentric to ensure no baffle strikes

I have a dead air nomad but just read on another thread (might have been you) of someone recommending ballistic research. My family lives in Jacksonville and my parents still live right outside of Richland's.

I see on their fb page they do a lot of work on AKs have you had any work done there?

My 13 inch Galil Ace is more accurate at 200 yards than any full length AK I have had.

I think 10 inches would be fine for deer too but you're getting into increased flash/concussion at that length.

Yes - they have done a lot of work on several firearms including AKs. Several guys from our club have also had work done. Staff are retired vets ( most of them former armorers or machinists ) they build kits and are a full class 3 manufacturing company- cans and machine guns. If you go there or call Perry is the owner - let him know I sent you.
